Benefit Cosmetics On HSN Today

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on February 16, 2011

While scrolling through the guide on my television this morning I noticed that Benefit Cosmetics has a show on HSN today at 10 am Central time.  I checked out the Benefit Cosmetics page on and found a couple of items that Benefit girls may be interested in.

First, the Benefit Perfect Pair Benetint and Hoola Bronzer. This duo features full-sized versions of Benetint and Hoola Box O’Powder for only $32! If you bought these items separately it would cost you $56.  I wish I needed Benetint because I’ve wanted to pick up Hoola and this is an amazing price for both items.  The problem is that I picked up a kit that had Benetint in it one of the last times Benefit was on HSN.

Second, the Benefit All You Need Is Gloss Set. This gloss set features 6 shimmering Benefit lip glosses for the event price of $16.95 (regular HSN price is $26). Shades include I’m with the band (golden pink shimmer), Almost Famous (copper penny), Life on the A list (bubble gum pink), Who are you Wearing? (passion fruit pink), Back to the Fuchsia (sparkling fuchsia), and 24k (sexy gold). I know that Benefit glosses have a cult following amongst some beauty addicts. If you fall into that category this would be a great time to pick these up at a fraction of the cost.

Even better, during Benefit’s visit to HSN, all Benefit Cosmetics products have $2.50 shipping.  Woo-hoo!  I wish QVC would take notice of the discounted shipping that HSN offers on their cosmetics products.

If you miss the 10 am show, Benefit Cosmetics will also be on HSN tomorrow, February 17th, at 2 am and 7 pm Central time.  Happy Shopping!

Tarte 8th World Wonder Best Of The Amazon 6 Piece Clay Collection TSV

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on February 15, 2011

I can’t believe we’re already more than half way through February.  We’re so close to March that QVC is already making some of their upcoming March Today’s Special Values available for pre-order.  One of those has really caught my eye.

The Tarte 8th World Wonder Best Of The Amazon 6 Piece Clay Collection feature 6 must have cosmetics products and one cosmetics brush housed in a cosmetics bag for the fantastic price of $48.36.  Products featured include a Lights, Camera, Lashes Volumuizing Mascara in black;, an Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Wear Powder Blush in Glisten (peachy/pink), an AC Long-Wear Eye Shadow Quad in dark brown, shimmering bronze, light sand & shimmering plum, an AC Automatic Waterproof Gel Liner in Golden Plum; a Pure Optic-Moisturizing Lip Gloss in Golden Pink, an AC Balancing Foundation SPF 15 w/brush in choice of Fair, Light, Med., Tan or Deep, and a purple faux leather cosmetic bag.

I passed on the last Tarte TSV and have regretted everyday since then.  There was no way I was passing on this upcoming TSV.  I have already placed my auto-delivery order.  I already picked up a Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Wear Powder Blush (review coming soon!) that I am totally in love with.  This is the perfect way to build up that collection since each order will feature a different blush shade.  If you’re eyeing Glisten blush in this TSV know that it looks like it is going to be a QVC exclusive for at least the time being seeing as it’s not available at Sephora.  And if you’ve been following this blog you know that Lights, Camera, Lashes is my absolute favorite mascara so it won’t hurt to get a new tube with each order.

The TSV price is $48.36 with 3 Easy Pays of $16.12.  Amazing price considering just the blush and mascara would cost you $44.  The regular QVC price will be $58.  Although the date of the Tarte Today’s Special Value on QVC isn’t until March 14th, the TSV is already available for pre-order.  Just know that usually when you pre-order a QVC TSV it doesn’t usually ship until the TSV date.  Sometimes we get lucky and they ship them out sooner, but don’t expect it.

Are you loving this Tarte Today’s Special Value 8th World Wonder Best Of The Amazon 6 Piece Clay Collection?  Will you be picking it up?

Holy @#$! Beauty Clearance At JCPenney

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on February 15, 2011

***Update ***  Some have asked which fragrances of Korres I found.  They had large duos of body butter and shower gel in Basil Lemon and Jasmine.  There was also a Korres kit that had 5 fragrances of body butter and 5 matching shower gels in Basil Lemon, Jasmine, Guava, Fig, and Japanese Rose.  I believe the individual body butter in the Happy Holidays box was Japanese Rose, but it’s not in front of me at the moment so I can’t say for sure.  Hope this helps!

I have mentioned the unbelievable deals that I have been finding at my local JCPenney since the end of the holiday season. If you’ve missed them, my local JCP doesn’t have a permanent Sephora inside of it. During the holiday season, a small Sephora section popped up with some of the must have holiday kits that Sephora sells from Bare Escentuals, Korres, Stila, Tokidoki, Sephora, Kat Von D, and more. After Christmas, the items that they had left began to be marked down. A few weeks ago, I posted that the items that they had left were marked down to half off. I really didn’t think they would go lower than that. Let me just tell you, they went lower. They went unbelievably lower. They went holy @#$! lower!

I let out a noticable gasp when I saw that Korres kits that were $29 and $35 originally were marked $2.97!!!  An individual Korres Body Butter in a Happy Holidays box was $0.47!!!  The Tokidoki Robbery Palette that was $49 was marked $2.97!!!  The Bare Escentuals Shimmer & Shine kit that was $54 was marked $2.97!!!  I grabbed one of those black mesh shopping totes and started throwing stuff in as fast as I could!  The BE Shimmer & Shine kit had to have been a customer return because I haven’t seen one of these at this JCP since around Christmas.  Everything was still sealed.

I’m almost embarrassed to admit how much I bought.  Let me preface that by saying that my Mom works at a department store and my sister is a waitress.  They both like to give a little something to all of their co-workers for birthdays and Christmas and whatnot.  So 90% of what I picked up will be used for gifts.  I will also donate some items to a women’s domestic violence center.  With that being said, I picked up about 50 items that should have totaled $844.  My total was…drumroll, please…$69.12!!!  I wouldn’t have been able to pick up 2 of the larger Korres gift sets for that price!  Oh, I didn’t even clear the shelf.  There were still a bunch of products left.

I’ve said it a bunch of times before, but now you really have to listen to me, if your JCPenney doesn’t have a permanent Sephora in it but had a pop-up section during the holidays, run to it right now and see if they have any items left.

Free Sample Of All 18 Shades Of New Maybelline Fit Me Foundation

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on February 10, 2011

I’m sure you’ve heard about the new Maybelline Fit Me line by now.  It’s a new shade-aligned system of foundation, powder, concealer, and brush.

From Maybelline – “FIT ME takes the frustration out of finding your shade with the in-store Fit Finder and shade-aligned system.  Find your shade number in liquid foundation, and the Fit Finder will guide you to your fit in powder and concealer.”

Great concept, especially for those who always have problems matching up foundation and concealer.  What’s even better is that right now Maybelline is giving away free samples of all 18 shades of the new Fit Me Foundation. How cool is that?  Isn’t the fact that foundation samples never seem to be the shade you need a huge pet peeve?  Here you’ll get all 18 shades to play with.  Free samples are available while supplies last.

Tokidoki Gelato Lip Balm Stain Review And Swatches

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on February 9, 2011

When Tokidoki first popped onto the make-up scene, I think most beauty addicts wondered if this was going to be a brand that had amazing packaging but less than stellar products.  I think it’s safe to say that Tokidoki has far surpassed expectations both packaging-wise and product-wise.  Their eye shadows are amazing.  And I always get a “Oooohhh, what’s that?” when I pull out a Tokidoki item from my purse.  When I saw their new Tokidoki Gelato Lip Balm Stain a few weeks ago, I knew I had to pick one up.

Tokidoki touts their Gelato Lip Balm Stain as a moisturizing lip balm with staining abilities.  Intriguing, right?  Especially since the most common complaint about lip stains seems to be the fact that they tend to dry out lips.  Tokidoki Gelato Lip Balm Stains are available in four shades:  Ciao Ciao (glossy clear with a mint flavor), Donutella (sheer coral strawberry with a melon flavor), Pink Martini (sheer hot pink with a cherry flavor), and Skeletrina (sheer grape with a grape flavor).  I picked up Donutella.  So what did I think?

I love the Donutella Gelato Lip Balm Stain!  It is exactly as described in that it feels like a moisturizing balm but still has the staining ability.  The melon flavor was subtle, which is a great thing for those who can’t stand over-powering scents and flavors.  The Donutella shade was perfect for me.  It gave my lips the perfect natural flush.  My lips had that “I’ve been drinking Kool-Aid” kind of look that great stains deliver.  The color wasn’t too bright, but it definitely brightened up my look.  I can’t wait to use this while creating Spring looks.

The packagaing is so cute.  The Tokidoki characters will grab the attention of anyone who sees you pull this baby out of your bag.

Okay, now for the bad.  If you are looking for a super long-lasting lip stain, you’re not going to find it here.  When I first applied the Gelato Lip Balm Stain, there was a bit of shininess to it.  The shine went away after about 15 minutes or so and then I was left with a gorgeous natural flush.  After about 2 hours or so of wear-time, you can tell that the color starts to fade.  The color still lasts for about another 2 hours or so, but you can tell that as time goes by so does the color.

Now, I have to admit, I wasn’t that put off by the fact that the color started to fade.  I don’t know if this will be true of the other shades, but with Donutella, even as the color started to fade I was still left with very pretty naturally flushed lips.  I guess it depends on how vivid you want your lip color to be.

Tokidoki Gelato Lip Balm Stain Donutella Swatch In The Sun

Tokidoki Gelato Lip Balm Stain Donutella Swatch Out Of The Sun

One thing that baffles me about these new Tokidoki Gelato Lip Balm Stains is the fact that one of the shades is clear.  Isn’t a stain supposed to leave a stain of color on your lips?  Kind of strange, isn’t it?

The Tokidoki Gelato Lip Balm Stains are priced at only $9 each.  Amazing price for a great product.

Have you picked up any of the new Tokidoki Gelato Lip Balm Stains?  Which one do you have your eye on?

Benefit Stay Put Set Back In Stock!!!

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on February 9, 2011

Were you able to get your hands on the Benefit Stay Put Set this past fall?  Seriously, it sold out in a blink of an eye once the Sephora Friends & Family Sale started.  That’s not surprising considering the Stay Put Set features almost full sized Erase Paste and Creaseless Cream Eyeshadow and a decent deluxe sample size of Stay Don’t Stray for only $10.  It is an absolute steal.  I know a lot of Benefit girls were upset that they had the Stay Put Set in their cart but it sold out before they could purchase it.  If that was you, I have fantabulous news. The Benefit Stay Put Set is back in stock!!!  It still states that this is a limited edition item so who knows how many they have or how long they will last.  I just ordered another set since I am a fan of the Erase Paste and you can’t beat this price.

If you haven’t tried the Erase Paste or the Creaseless Cream Eyeshadow, this is an excellent kit to pick up to give them a try.  You are not going to find such a value anywhere else.  The RSVP shade of eyeshadow is a gorgeous neutral that should flatter most skintypes.  I reach for it at least once a week.

Did you miss out on the Benefit Stay Put Set this past fall or were you lucky enough to get one?  Love it?  Hate it?

Bare Minerals High Shine Longwear Eyecolor Duo Meteorite / Gold Medal Review And Swatches

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on February 8, 2011

About a week and a half or so, Bare Escentuals was on QVC with 2 shows offering only special event items.  I decided to pick up the High Shine Longwear Eyecolor Duo in Meteorite and Gold Medal.  I have most of the High Shine eye colors from Bare Escentuals (I think I’m missing one) and I love them.  So picking up these 2 at $21 and change was a no-brainer.

High Shine Meteorite And Gold Medal In The Sun

High Shine Meteorite And Gold Medal Out Of The Sun

Bare Minerals describes Meteorite as an iced mocha shade and Gold Medal as a pale gold shade.  Both descriptions are pretty accurate.  If I had to add my own description I would say that Meteorite has a rose gold feel to it.  I love both of these shades.  They are neutral enough to wear everyday, but the high shine ability makes them great for evening wear too.

As I’ve said before when talking about BE High Shine shadows, the look of these shadows is similar to the results you get when foiling the normal Bare Escentuals shadows.  Of course here you don’t have to worry about wetting your brush and all of that.  If you’re a fan of metallic finishes in your eye shadows, I think you would be interested in these.

I have not had a problem with creasing with the High Shine shadows, but they do start to fade around 6 hours of wear.  I would rather deal with even fading as opposed to creasing.  I should note that this is without a primer, so if you used a primer I would think they would last even longer.

High Shine Gold Medal (Top) And Meteorite (Bottom) Swatches In The Sun

High Shine Gold Medal (Top) And Meteorite (Bottom) Swatches Out Of The Sun

I know that a lot of people have complained about the High Shine shadows with regards to their packaging.  A lot of people are not loving the spring-loaded tubes.  Personally, I don’t have a problem with them, but I do use them with a plan of attack.

First, remember these are spring-loaded.  I think that most obsessed make-up users are so used to using and putting on make-up that they move at a fast pace.  Don’t open and pull the top off of the tube of the High Shines that fast!  I unscrew the top and wait until I hear the spring-loaded applicator pop.  Then I slowly start to pull the applicator from the tube while kind of swirling applicator in the tube.  These seems to shake off the extra product into the tube so that it doesn’t get all over the place and get wasted.

Second, you don’t have to use the sponge tip applicator to apply the High Shine shadows.  There are many ways to apply the shadows.  You can use the sponge tip applicator and tap the color on your lid and then use a regular shadow brush to spread it out.  Or you can use a regular shadow brush to swipe the shadow off of the sponge tip applicator and then apply it on your eyes.  You can even use your fingers to rub it off of the sponge tip applicator and then onto your eyes.  I’m sure there are many other ways to apply the High Shine shadows that I haven’t even thought of.  If you have any, feel free to leave a comment.

Third, if you still really hate the packaging, you can always dump the shadow out into a regular BE container.

So here’s the bad news.  The BE High Shine Longwear Eyecolor Duo in Meteorite and Gold Medal sold out on QVC.  But, these shades will be back.  Leslie said that these shades will be available in the Bare Escentuals boutiques soon.  This was just a sneak peek.  So if you want to pick up these shades, you’ll have to wait a little longer.

Did you pick up the Bare Escentuals High Shine Longwear Eyecolor Duo in Meteorite and Gold Medal?  Do you have any of the BE High Shine Eyecolors?  Love them?  Hate them?

Smashbox Create Your Own Kit

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on February 8, 2011

I know one of the common complaints among beauty kit purchasers is the fact that many kits feature at least one item you don’t want or won’t use or have too many of.  Now, I know at lot of us still pick up these kits due to the fact that it’s still a great deal for the items you will use.  I’m happy to see that more cosmetics companies are hopping on the create-your-own kit bandwagon.  You may recall that I took advantage of the Bare Escentuals create-your-own kit during the holiday season to pick up 3 of the High Shine eye shadows for about the cost of 2.  Smashbox is the latest cosmetics company to offer a Create Your Own Kit.

This week only, you can Create Your Own Kit on  You start with a gold make-up bag and then select three items to fill it up with.  You can choose any combination of Eye Shadow Trios, Blush Rush blushes, and Lip Enhancing Glosses.  You can pick one of each or 3 shadow trios or 2 blushes and a lip gloss and so on.  Depending on the combo of products you go with, the kit has a value of up to $84.

If you are a fan of particular shades from Smashbox, this is a great opportunity to get exactly what you want at a pretty great discount.

Are you a fan of the create-your-own-kit idea?

Huge Boot Clearance At Kohl’s

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on February 8, 2011

If you are out and about and near a Kohl’s department store, I highly recommend running in and checking out the shoe section.  The 80% off winter clearance has begun!  I found soooooo many great pairs of boots for 80% off.  I picked up 2 pairs of $100 boots for only $20 each.  Some items were only 70% off.  If you’ve been eyeing some of the pricier Vera Wang and Dana Buchman boots they are also included in the clearance.

They also had a number of the Sketchers Shape-Ups on clearance including ones that resembled Uggs.  I have a pair of Shape-Ups and can’t recommend them enough.  If you do a lot of walking, these shoes are a godsend.  This past holiday season I did a ton of baking.  Let me just tell you, standing on the hard kitchen floor for hours at a time kills my feet.  I wore the Shape-Ups this year and my feet didn’t hurt at all.  The Sketchers Shape-Ups boots were twenty something dollars.

You could check out, but they didn’t seem to have much selection-wise and what was available was mostly in smaller sizes.  My size 9 1/2 clown feet couldn’t find anything online.  If you’re a Kohl’s charge card holder you should have also received a trio of 15% off coupons in the mail recently.  The 15% off coupon brought the $20 price down to $17.  Happy Shopping!
