Yes Virginia, There Is A Clear Lipliner

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on June 10, 2010

For years I was extremely anti-lipliner.  I’m still haunted by the trend from when I was in high school of frosted purple lips with a very defined (and ugly) darker lined lip.  I am proud to say that I never succumed to that disaster trend.  When I was in college, I decided to give lipliners a chance, but the experience was horrific.  It’s probably my fault, but I let a MAC girl have free rein on me at the MAC counter.  The colors that she chose were atrocious.  To make it even worse, the gloss that she used was from the MAC Pro Longwear line.  As any MAC girl knows, the staying power of the Pro Longwear line is phenomenal; a little too phenomenal in this case because I couldn’t get it off of my lips to save my life.  I had to walk through downtown Chicago, scaring hoards of people along Michigan Avenue as I walked back to my apartment.

After that, I thought all hope was lost.  I was just bound to live a life without lipliner.  But then the clouds parted and a path of sunlight led me to something that I didn’t even dream existed.  Enter clear lipliner.  Yes, CLEAR lipliner.  Thanks to an angel at the Benefit Cosmetics counter at Macy’s on State Street I was introduced to Benefit’s d’finer d’liner.  The concept is so simple; a clear lip liner that will flatter every skintone and will not change the color of your favorite lip color.  It makes your lipstick last longer while making your lips pop.  It’s been a Godsend to my make-up arsenal and has even led me to use lipstick more often.  Even though it’s been out for a few years, it seems that a lot of people who I talk to still aren’t aware that there is clear lipliner out there.  So this post is for all of you.  I highly recommend that you give clear lipliner a shot.

If the $20 price tag is too rich for your blood don’t worry.  Drugstore cosmetic brands have started to offer clear lipliners too.  Revlon and Maybelline both have clear lipliner options that won’t break the bank.
