Old Navy $2 Camis – WTF?

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on July 30, 2010

Has anyone been successful in picking up some of the $2 camis from Old Navy I posted about here? I went to an Old Navy at about 9:30 am yesterday and they were completely sold out. This morning I needed to go to Target and there happened to be an Old Navy next door so I ran in there. They only had 7 camis left all in brown all sized XS or S.   This promotion is supposed to go thru tomorrow.  I realize supplies are limited and what not, but what a let down when stores are completely out an hour after store opens on the first day!  Oh well, bring on the next sale!

Stila Travel Palettes At Sephora!

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on July 28, 2010

Good news!  While browsing Sephora I came across something I did not expect.  Stila Travel Palettes!  Both Road To Radiance Across The USA and Pretty In Paris are available at Sephora.  As I said in my post yesterday, the $7.95 shipping from is just too high for a $10 palette. Especially with all of the new sale items on, I’m much more likely to spend enough to get free shipping!  Road To Radiance Across The USA says that it is only available online, but it does not say that for Pretty In Paris.  That being said, I would think that means that the Stila Pretty In Paris Travel Palette is also available at Sephora stores.  This is great news for anyone who, like me, just couldn’t justify the outrageous Stila shipping cost!

New Sale Items At

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on July 28, 2010

Today seems to be the day of bargains!  Last night while browsing I noticed that they have added a bunch of new products to their sale section including some goodies from Stila. Both the Stila Jewel Lip Glaze Trio and the Stila Jewel Eye Shadow Palette are now half price ($16 each). I bought these when they first came out and absolutely loved them. Yes, they pack a lot of punch in the glimmer/sparkle deparment, but with a light hand they can be applied in a subtle, glamorous manner. Not to mention that the colors are just gorgeous. The Rose Quartz and the Amethyst eyeshadows were my faves.   If you’ve had your eye on either of those sets now is the time to grab them. is also featuring Philosophy’s Christmas In July Sale. Nothing too spectacular here. A bunch of last holiday’s pieces are on sale. Some decent deals if you’re into scents like gingerbread, pumpkin, and chocolate covered cherry.

Anything from the sale department catch your eye?  Let us know!, Inc.

$2 Camis At Old Navy

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on July 28, 2010

If you’re going to be out and about tomorrow or this weekend you may want to head over to Old Navy.  They posted a coupon on their Facebook page for $2 Camis starting tomorrow, July 29th thru July 31st or while supplies last.  There is a limit of 5 $2 Camis per person.  Click here for the Old Navy coupon.  If you don’t feel like printing the coupon no worries.  Apparently you can also tell your Old Navy salesperson “Cami 4 Me” and also get the discount.  This deal is good only in stores and not online.  This is a pretty awesome sale considering that the camis are regularly priced at $8.50.

I have to say, I’ve been loving these spectacular weekend only sales/deals that Old Navy has been having lately.  Anyone else?

Philosophy – Buy 2 Lip Shines, Get 1 Free

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on July 27, 2010

When I saw an email from titled “pucker up! buy 2 lip shines, get 1 free‏” I got overly excited.  I’ve already professed my love of Philosophy Mouthwatering Watermelon Lip Shine on this blog.  So imagine the let down when I read the email and found out that it was only valid on select varieties.  Of course, once I clicked thru the email I found that Mouthwatering Watermelon was not one of the chose flavors.  But this is still a great promotion if you are a fan of Philosophy Lip Shines…the regular price of the two packs of Lip Shines are $18-$20.  Use coupon / promo code puckerup to take advantage of this deal.  Promotion is good thru July 29th or while supplies last.  Happy Shopping!

Stila Travel Girl Palettes – Pretty In Paris

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on July 27, 2010

Stila has introduced a series of palettes called Stila Girl Travel Palettes. A new limited edition palette will be introduced each month through November based on one of the five Stila Girl’s travels. Each Travel Palette will feature four eye shadows and one convertible color. And the best part…Each palette will only cost $10!!! I mean, you can’t even get four eye shadows and a convertible color for $10 at a drugstore! The price is ridiculous (in a good way). The second palette, Pretty In Paris, has been released.

Pretty In Paris is inspired by Stila Girl Chelsea’s holiday to Paris. It features eye shadows in Crepe (pale pink), Cherie (reddish brown), Jolie (brownish pink), and Chocolat (brown) and Convertible Color in Rosebud.  I’m not sure if I’m feeling this palette.  For me, there’s nothing exciting about the colors.  My make-up arsenal seems to have an over abundance of browns. Don’t get me wrong, the shades in Pretty In Paris still look beautiful and I already know I’m a fan of Stila shadows, but this palette just isn’t in the need category. If you haven’t used Stila eye shadows before, they are buildable. By that I mean, you can apply them lightly for a sheerer look or layer them for a bolder look.

Just like the last palette the $7.95 shipping cost is the major downside to this product. Ouch. As you may recall from my Road To Radiance Across The USA post, the shipping cost was holding me back from ordering that palette.  Since I’m not ga-ga over Pretty In Paris I’m definitely not forking over $7.95 for shipping.  Perhaps if Stila decides to offer free shipping like last time I may decide to pick up Pretty In Paris.  But for right now, I’m just not feeling it.

Are you picking up the new Stila Pretty In Paris palette?  Did you get it already?  Love it?  Hate it?  Let us know!

Got 2 B Smooth Operator Smoothing Lustre Lotion

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on July 26, 2010

I am a BzzAgent.  For those of you who are unaware of BzzAgent it is a company that promotes word of mouth campaigns through everyday people like you and me.  If you are selected to be part of a given BzzAgent campaign, you’re usually sent a product to test out as well as a few coupons or samples to pass out to others to get the word out there about a new product.

Anyhoo, I was recently chosen to participate in the BzzAgent Got 2 B Smooth Operator Smoothing Lustre Lotion campaign.  Got 2 B has just reformulated their Smooth Operator line to add cashmere…yes, cashmere (who else is thinking of the Seinfeld episode with the red dot on the cashmere sweater?).  BzzAgent sent me a coupon for a full-sized bottle of Got 2 B Smooth Operator Smoothing Lustre Lotion.

From Got 2 B – “Got 2 B Smooth Operator Smoothing Lustre Lotion shapes, smoothes, controls fly-aways and gives your hair an amazing weightless lustre that’s touchably soft.  Plus it protects against damage from heat styling and contains a UV protectant, too.”

So what did I think?  I thought the new Got 2 B Smooth Operator Smoothing Lustre Lotion was a great product.  Truthfully, it’s a product I probably wouldn’t have tried had I not been sent a sample thanks largely to the fact that I think the packaging is a little gaudy.  I know, I know, we’re not supposed to judge beauty products by the packaging, but seriously, the Got 2 B Smooth Operator line looks like Ed Hardy was told to create something using only shades of pink and silver.  And then add the useless charms on top of the bottle and you’ve got something that looks like it would be coveted by grade schoolers.

The Lustre Lotion can be used on either wet or dry hair, so of course I tested it on both.  For me, it wasn’t as effective on wet hair.  My hair can be so frizzy that while it did tame some of the frizziness when applied to wet hair, it didn’t do enough that I would wear it out in public.  I applied the Lustre Lotion to towel-dried hair and then let it air dry.  I didn’t do any styling to it because I wanted to see what it would look like without any added help.  When my hair dried it was incredibly soft and looked and felt very airy.  My frizz was noticeably down, but it wasn’t completely gone.  My curls were not very defined.  I was left with more subtle looking waves.  Again, nothing I would wear out in public, but a good start.

Got 2 B Smooth Operator Smoothing Lustre Lotion on dry hair, on the other hand, was spectacular.  I always get nervous about applying “lotions” or “creams” to dry hair.  There is always a chance that you are going to get a heavy, greasy, weighed down look.  This couldn’t be further from the truth with the Lustre Lotion.  When I applied it to dry hair, my curls were noticeably defined and my frizziness was completely tamed.  Just like when I applied the Lustre Lotion to my wet hair, my dry hair was incredibly soft and airy.

When I straighten my hair I am often plagued by fly aways, especially around my forehead.  Got 2 B Smooth Operator Smoothing Lustre Lotion was a Godsend for these horrific fly aways.

The scent of Got 2 B Smooth Operator Smoothing Lustre Lotion is rather pleasant.  It’s a fruity scent that is subtle when you’re applying the product but is virtually non-existant throughout the day. You don’t have to worry about the Lustre Lotion competing with your fragrance.

As for the claims that it protects against heat styling, I can’t really comment.  I’ve only been using the product for a month.  My hair has never shown signs of damage from heat styling so it’s not as if I can say the appearance of my hair is getting better.

Overall, Got 2 B Smooth Operator Smoothing Lustre Lotion is a great product.  While it didn’t completely get rid of my frizz, it did a decent enough job that I will definitely be adding the Lustre Lotion to my arsenal of hair care products.  That being said, if you’re lucky enough to have only a little bit of frizz I think that the Lustre Lotion would do a tremendous job of getting rid of your frizzies.  It’s a nice alternative to , and it won’t leave your hair looking weighed down or greasy.  Don’t let the gaudy packaging fool you, this is a serious product!  So that’s my review.  Have you tried Got 2 B Smooth Operator Smoothing Lustre Lotion?  Do you love it?  Do you hate it?  Leave a comment and let us know!

Disclaimer: BzzAgent provided me a full size Got 2 B Smooth Operator Smoothing Lustre Lotion for the purpose of this review as well as 5 $1 off coupons and 10 sample packets to pass out to others so that they could also try Got 2 B Smooth Operator Smoothing Lustre Lotion. All of the opinions expressed in this review are my own and have in no way been influenced by BzzAgent, Got 2 B, or any other company or person.

And Then Life Gets In The Way

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on July 26, 2010

Hey guys.  Let me just tell you…lately, when it rains it pours around here.  A few weeks ago we had a death in the family.  Although it was the result of a long battle with cancer, it was still somewhat unexpected.  It is especially hard to lose someone when they are still in their twenties.  Needless to say, beauty topics were just not at the top of my list of priorities at the time.  I did have some posts scheduled to automatically post, but wouldn’t you know that technology failed me and for some reason they didn’t post.  Fast forward to this past week.  I was all ready to get back into the swing of things but then multiple car problems resulting in trips to the mechanic (twice), a flooded basement at my parent’s house (not once, but twice!), and a horrible backache from cleaning out the basement/crawl space once again derailed me.  I haven’t even put make-up on in the last week and a half, let alone thought about beauty happenings.  But I am finally ready to get back into things.  There is so much happening and so much to talk about…who else is excited about Project Runway starting up again this week???  I know you guys have been visiting…I do see you on my stat thingy.  Get ready for a bunch of new posts!

tokidoki Pittura Brush Set

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on July 6, 2010

How adorable is this new Pittura Brush Set from tokidoki?  I can picture these little guys making themselves at home in the brush mug on my bathroom sink.  This set includes three brushes:  an eyeshadow brush, a crease brush, and an eyeliner brush.  I think each brush type is pretty self-explanatory so I’m not going to go into what each one does.  Each brush is topped with a cute character and has funky graphics going down the handle.  The bristles themselves are white with colored tips.  All can be used wet or dry allowing you create a ton of looks.  What else can I say, these brushes are just too cute for words.  At $35, it’s not a bad deal either.  Can you ever have too many make-up brushes?

tokidoki was a brand that I was a little worried about when it first came out.  I thought it was going to be a brand that was all about the packaging with a just so-so product.  But I have to admit, I’ve been pleasantly surprised with every tokidoki product I’ve tried.  More on that later!

Budget Beauty Monday – Kmart Super Double Health And Beauty Coupons

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on July 5, 2010

It’s Monday…time for Budget Beauty Monday!!! Let’s face it. After the weekend we usually end up feeling like we ate too much, drank too much, spent too much, and didn’t do enough around the house. So I figure Monday on should feature budget beauty products that won’t break the bank so you won’t feel bad about wanting to run out and get them.

Today’s Budget Beauty Monday post isn’t featuring a budget product, but a budget deal. Now through July 10th, Kmart is doubling coupons for Health and Beauty products up to $2 (meaning if you have a $2 coupon you’ll get $4 off).  I’m not a Kmart shopper so I’ve never participated in a Kmart double coupons event, but reading through the information it states that you need a Shop Your Way Rewards card (it looks like an easy to sign up for loyalty card) and you can only double 5 coupons per day.  If you got the paper yesterday (July 4th) there was a coupon insert in it for Proctor & Gamble products that had a bunch of health and beauty product coupons in it.  If you’ve been running low on budget health and beauty products or have wanted to try some new budget health and beauty products, this deal may be right up you alley.  Apparently, not every Kmart store participates in this kind of event.  You can see if your Kmart is participating here.  Happy Shopping!
