Bare Minerals Big, Bright & Brilliant Holiday 2010

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on September 29, 2010

Hey girls.  I’ve got more Bare Escentuals for you!  This one is another collection of eyeliners.  Bare Minerals Big, Bright & Brilliant is a collection of 3 mini Big & Bright eyeliners.  The colors featured in the set include Black Gold (antique gold), Black Diamond (black sheen), and Midnight Moon (navy shimmer).

BE claims that Big & Bright Eyeliner “visually enhances the whites of your eyes, so eyes look whiter, brighter and more brilliant instantly.”  I definitely think my eyes look bigger and brighter when using BE Big & Bright but no more so than using other eyeliners.  I think that anytime you use eyeliner your eyes are going to pop, thus making them look and bigger and brighter, but that’s just my opinion.

Bare Mineral Big & Bright Eyeliner is pretty awesome.  It is very creamy and glides on your lids.  It lasts all day and the colors are all very pretty.  I more than recommend Big & Bright Eyeliner, however, I think I am going to be passing on this kit.  Since I am definitely going to order BE Shimmer & Shine I will be receiving a Big & Bright Eyeliner in that kit.  As you know, I recently picked up the Girlfriend Collection as well as a Big & Bright Duo from QVC.   Oh, and I already ordered Beyond Gorgeous and I’ll be getting a Big & Bright liner in there too. That gives me 5 full sized Big & Bright Eyeliners so I just don’t need anymore…right now.  Not to mention, my heart is set on the Buxom Really Good Lines eyeliner kit.  But I still love Big & Bright!

Big, Bright & Brilliant is available on at a price of $20 with a $24 value. Not much of a savings but at least it’s something, right?

Will you be getting Big, Bright, & Brilliant? Are you a fan of Big & Bright Eyeliner? Leave a comment and let us know!

Buxom Really Good Lines – Six Mini Eyeliners Kit – Maybe Holiday 2010?

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on September 29, 2010

I keep finding more and more goodies from Bare Escentuals and part of me says save them because you won’t have anything to post about tomorrow, but the other part of me says are you crazy, share them immediately!  Add another kit to my must have list.  The Buxom Really Good Lines kit looks like it’s a goodie. The names of the colors of liners in this collection are hysterical.

Buxom Really Good Lines features 6 mini Buxom eyeliners in “Did it hurt when you fell from heaven?” (bright turquoise), “Do you believe in love at first sight or should I walk by again?” (violet purple), “Are you a parking ticket? You’ve got fine written all over you.” (pearl white), “If I could rearrange the alphabet, I’d put “U” and “I” together.” (black), “Are those sexy legs tired? You’ve been running through my mind.” (espresso), and “You must be a thief because you stole my heart.” (gold with silver micro glitter).

Seriously, are those not hysterical names???  Are you a fan of the TV show How I Met Your Mother?  I think this kit could have been named the Barney Stinson Collection.  Come on, aren’t these all lines that he would use to try to pick up a girl!!!

I love the last line in the synopsis about Buxom Really Good Lines: “Like any good pick-up line, they are smooth and pack a sexy punch.” There are some funny creative people working on these products! Let me just tell you, if you’ve never tried Buxom liners before they are extremely smooth. They go on like butter. The colors in this collection should really make your eyes pop.

Bare Escentuals did a great job in selecting the colors to be included in this kit.  It’s the pefect balance of bright, bold fun colors and toned down everyday colors.  Add this to my list of must gets.

Buxom Really Good Lines is a Sephora exclusive limited edition. It’s priced at $28 with a value of $60. I’m not sure if this considered a holiday kit or not. I mean, nothing says Merry Christmas more than cheesy pick up lines that you’d hear in a bar, but that’s just me! Buxom Really Good Lines is already available on

Are you already a fan of BE Buxom eyeliners? Love the names of the colors in this kit? Think this would be a perfect gift for your single BFF who is tired of hearing these pick up lines? Leave a comment!

Bare Minerals Shimmer & Shine Sephora Exclusive Kit – Holiday 2010

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on September 29, 2010

Oh my God!  I didn’t expect to see this this morning.  The Sephora exclusive from the Bare Escentuals Holiday 2010 collection has been released.  Introducing Bare Minerals Shimmer & Shine.  Let me just tell you, this is the absolute first thing I getting come the Sephora Friends & Family sale.  It is beyond gorgeous (not to steal the name of another BE holiday kit).  Seriously, I wish I could reach thru the computer screen and pull it out.

Shimmer & Shine features 4 eyecolors in Shimmer (frosted cappuccino), Flicker (burnished violet), High Shine Gold Medal (pale gold), and High Shine Vapor (graphite), a Big & Bright Eyeliner in Intense Black, a Clear Radiance All-Over Face Color (sheer translucent glow), a Pink Petal Blush (bright poppy pink), 2 100% Natural Lipgloss in With A Twist (tulip pink) and Sprinkles (diamond shimmer), a Full Tapered Blush & Eye Brush, and a look book featuring instructions to create Shimmer & Shine looks.

The whole concept of this collection is that there are essentially two complete looks.  One is all about the shimmer hence the shimmer shadows and gloss and the other is all about the shine hence the shine shadows and gloss.  Great idea.  Of course I’m sure you can combine items from each look to create a Shimmer & Shine look.

There is not one thing in Shimmer & Shine that I’m not excited about.  Truthfully, I’m not usually a big fan of the 100% Natural Lipglosses (I’m more of a Buxom lipgloss girl), but I’m even excited about these glosses!  And the eyecolors all look and sound so versatile.  I can already tell that I’m going to be able to mix and match them with a ton of shades I already have.  Bare Escentuals has done it again!

Bare Minerals Shimmer & Shine is priced at $54 with a value of $142. It’s an exclusive limited edition for Sephora and is already available on

Are you loving Shimmer & Shine? Like Beyond Gorgeous better? Need to have both? Leave a comment!

Bare Minerals Beyond Gorgeous Holiday Kit

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on September 29, 2010

***Make sure you check out my review for BE Beyond Gorgeous complete with swatch pictures in this post.

Oh my God!  Finally we’re getting to see the holiday 2010 pieces from Bare Escentuals / Bare Minerals.  According to Leslie Blodgett’s Facebook page, it appears that there are going to be a number of pieces and collections and there will be exclusive kits for different retailers.  I am drooling over the Beyond Gorgeous kit.

From BE – “Take your mood, and your look, above and beyond with a makeup collection full of extraordinary beauty. Beyond Gorgeous, with all its playful touches, makes it easy to make an entrance, turn heads, bask in the frills and thrills of holiday. So go ahead, sweep on these glowing, gorgeous shades, enjoy these special moments, and live life to its fullest (and then some).”

Even the short, playful description gets me excited.  The “playful touches” on this kit push it over the edge.  The packaging on these products is adorable.  I love the cute little ribbons and bows.  And oh my God, I am loving the hot pink brush handles.

The BE Beyond Gorgeous Kit includes an Original Mineral Veil (size: medium), a Satin Ruffle Eyecolor (nude satin) (size: small), a Frills Eyecolor (charcoal moss) (size: small), a Pink Ribbon Blush (sheer raspberry pink) (size: medium), a 100% Natural Lipgloss in Icing (sheer playful pink), a Big & Bright Eyeliner in Charbronze (antique brown), a Flawless Definition Volumizing Mascara in Black, an Eye Shaping Brush, and a Flawless Application Face Brush all housed in a keepsake box.

I am most excited about trying out the Pink Ribbon Blush.  It looks very pretty in the picture and the sheer raspberry pink description makes it sound like something I would love.

Beyond Gorgeous is priced at $54 and is currently available on I have no idea if this is going to be a exclusive or if you’ll find it at Sephora and other retailers in the future. If you do plan on picking it up from, don’t forget you can save 20% with coupon code GLAMOUR thru October 12th.

Are you as excited about Beyond Gorgeous as I am?  Can’t wait to see what else Bare Escentuals has in store for us for Holiday 2010?

Bare Escentuals Buxom Rock Stars Lip Glosses

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on September 29, 2010

Do you follow Leslie Blodgett on Facebook?  If you don’t, you should.  She posts all of the time and a lot of times she gives hints and teases about upcoming products.  If you do follow her, you may remember her posting this picture back in August. It was a major tease for a new set of mini Buxom lip glosses.  Her caption stated that she thought that product would be released in October.  Well Christmas has come early (or should we say Halloween has come early since it was supposed to be an October release?).  Buxom Rock Stars Big & Healthy Lip Polish set is now available on  The Rock Stars in this kit include Gabby (grapewine shimmer), Blanche (shimmering nude), Julie (tulip pink), and Tonya (hot pink sparkle).

Let me just tell you, I am absolutely beyond obsessed and addicted to the Buxom mini sets.  I don’t think there is a Buxom mini set that I don’t own.  Buxom by far is one of my most favorite lip glosses.  I love the slight tingle that your lips feel after you apply it.  The colors are usually sheer and sparkly.  When I first saw Leslie’s teaser photo of the Rock Star set I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it.  The colors in this kit look impressive.

So far, it looks like Bare Escentuals Buxom Rock Stars in only available at  It’s priced at $28.

Sorry about the smallness of the picture…it’s the largest one I can find!

What do you think of Buxom Rock Stars?  What about Buxom in general?  Will you be picking up Buxom Rock Stars?

Bobbi Brown Pink Ribbon Shimmer Brick

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on September 28, 2010

The latest Breast Cancer Awareness Month cosmetic item that I have come across comes for the wonder Bobbi Brown.  This year Bobbi offers the Pink Ribbon Shimmer Brick.  Most beauty addicts should already be familiar with Bobbi’s Shimmer Bricks.  The Pink Ribbon Shimmer Brick features five shades that blend together to give your face a beautiful pink glow.  For those who have never used a Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick before, you are left with more of a radiant glow than a ton of color.  This is not a shimmery blush.  Each purchase of the $38 Pink Ribbon Shimmer Brick contribute’s to Bobbi Brown’s $35,000 donation to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.  Also, if you pick up the Pink Ribbon Shimmer Brick thru you will receive free shipping on your order as well as a Pink Ribbon to show your support in the fight against Breast Cancer.  This offer is good now thru the end of October.

I cannot recommend Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks enough.  I have never been disappointed with a Shimmer Brick.  They leave your face with such a gorgeous natural glow.  Very often, I just throw on some Shimmer Brick when I’m just out running errands and don’t feel like getting all dolled up.  It’s also the perfect addition to your holiday party look.  You’ll look like an angel.

What are your feelings on Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks?  Love them?  Hate them?  Think they are overrated?  How about too pricey?  Leave a comment!

MAC Venomous Villains Available Now!!!

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on September 27, 2010

Run over to to pick up pieces from their latest collection, Venomous Villains. But be warned, there are a ton of amazing products featuring 4 of Disney’s best known villains (Cruella, The Evil Queen, Maleficent, and Dr. Facilier) that will be beggin to be purchased. Have your credit card ready! Even better, use coupon / promo code CS105LIVECHAT to get free shipping on any order. I thought I had read that the release date for the Venomous Villains collection was September 28th so there’s a good chance that you can avoid the rush of people waiting for tomorrow to place orders. I’m sure a lot of these products will sell out fast.

While I am lusting over several pieces in the Venomous Villain collection, my wallet has limited me to 2 pieces.  I picked up Venemous Villains Mineralize Eye Shadow Duo in She Who Dares as well as Venemous Villains Beauty Powder in Briar Rose both from Maleficent’s line.  I couldn’t resist the sparkle and jewel tone colors in that gorgeous eye shadow duo.

This is a little off topic, but as I was looking around the MAC site I realized that they have a spelling error.  In the header at the very, very top of the webpage (above the address bar) Villains is spelled “Villians.”  Just wanted to point out how nuts I am that I notice stuff like that.

Feel free to post what you plan on getting from the new MAC Venemous Villians collection.  Happy Shopping!

Budget Beauty Monday II

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on September 27, 2010

While I’ve already posted this week’s Budget Beauty Monday post, I wanted to post this second one as a heads up.  A few weeks ago I blogged about Wet N Wild ColorIcon Eye Shadow Palettes. I was blown away by how many people found that post by searching for information on Wet N Wild. Cleary, there are a lot of beauty addicts out there who are interested in this brand. So I thought you would all like to know that this week (September 26th – October 2nd) Walgreens has a 50% off sale on Wet N Wild.  That makes for some pretty affordable make-up.  I ran there this morning to pick up a few products to sample for upcoming Budget Beauty Monday posts and was suprised to see that my Walgreens was hit hard by Wet N Wild lovers.  Seriously, a lot of shades were completely sold out.

If you pick up any Wet N Wild products from Walgreens this week, post a comment and let us know what you got!

Budget Beauty Monday – Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Blow Dry Perfector Review

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on September 27, 2010

It’s Monday…time for Budget Beauty Monday!!! Let’s face it. After the weekend we usually end up feeling like we ate too much, drank too much, spent too much, and didn’t do enough around the house. So I figure Monday on should feature budget beauty products that won’t break the bank so you won’t feel bad about wanting to run out and get them.

I am a BzzAgent. For those of you who are unaware of BzzAgent it is a company that promotes word of mouth campaigns through everyday people like you and me. If you are selected to be part of a given BzzAgent campaign, you’re usually sent a product to test out as well as a few coupons or samples to pass out to others to get the word out there about a new product.

Anyhoo, I was recently chosen to participate in the BzzAgent Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Blow Dry Perfector campaign.

So let me just tell you, I was beyond excited when I first got the invite to join this campaign weeks ago. Before I received the invite I hadn’t even heard of the Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Blow Dry Perfector kit. It was that new. Of course, the Thursday after I received the invite I saw many commercials for the product during that week’s Project Runway. In case you’re somehow immune to all the in-show advertising, Garnier is responsible for the hair of the models and obviously is one of the biggest sponsors of Project Runway. Anyways, when I heard that this was an at-home product that claims to give you smoother, frizz-free hair for up to 7 shampoos I was dying to get my hands on this product.

The disappointment started almost immediately after I opened the box of Blow Dry Perfector.  There were like a million rules and warnings for using the product.  First of all, if you color treat your hair you have to wait 2 weeks before and after you color your hair to use Blow Dry Perfector.  You also have to wear gloves while applying the product.  I’m sorry, but I’m always leery of products that you put on your body that require protective coverings on another part of your body.  Also, you apply the serum after you shampoo your hair, but you can’t use conditioner.  The last big concern I had with Blow Dry Perfector is that the directions state that you may have to use a flat iron after blowing out your hair to get the best results.  What?  I thought this product was supposed to leave you with awesome hair after a quick blow dry!

Blow Dry Perfector requires 2 steps…well 3 if you count the need to blow dry your hair.  Step 1: Comb the 20-minute Smooth-It Serum through shampooed, towel-dried hair. Wait 20 minutes. Rinse hair thoroughly with warm water.  Step 2: Apply Heat-Activated Perfect-It Cream. Blow dry or flat iron as you normally would to reveal sleek, shiny, more manageable hair for up to 7 shampoos.

Let me just tell you, if you have a problem with offensive scents, don’t even try to use Blow Dry Perfector.  The active ingredients in the serum smell like death.  Seriously, I have smelled a lot of bad things over the course of my life, but this has to be one of the worst.  And what’s worse is that the smell lingers even after you wash it off.  My Sweetie even said, “Oh my God you stink!”

I have to say, after reading all of the warnings and smelling that God awful scent, I was really not looking forward to trying this product out.  And let me just tell you, my instincts were right.  Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Blow Dry Perfector was horrible.  Immediately after using Blow Dry Perfector my hair felt incredibly heavy and weighed down.  This is definitely not the norm for me.  My hair also felt incredibly dry.  Blow Dry Perfector claims that your blow drying time will be reduced.  So not the case for me.  My blow dry time was exactly the same.  And my hair was not any less frizzy/wavy/curly.

One of the questions I had about Blow Dry Perfector was what was meant by 7 shampoos.  As any girl with long, full, wavy/curly hair knows, it is a pain to go thru the washing and styling process.  As such, most girls with said hair type (myself included) don’t wash their hair everyday.  I tend to wash my hair every 3 days, but I know many people who can get away with washing every 4-5 days.  If 7 shampoos truly means 7 shampoos, Blow Dry Perfector could essentially last for a month.  I don’t think this is true.  I was so disgusted by how my hair felt and looked that I immediately began washing Blow Dry Perfector out of my hair.  It was completely gone in 3 shampoos (all done in the same day).  I tried to get an answer as to what was officially meant by 7 shampoos, but my emails and calls to Garnier were not returned.

Another question I had about Blow Dry Perfector was the effect of chlorine with the product.  When I first received this product to test out, it was August and still hot and humid in Chicago.  We are lucky enough to have a pool.  After reading all of the warnings associated with Blow Dry Perfector and things you shouldn’t do (i.e. wait to color your hair) I was concerned about going into a chlorinated pool with Blow Dry Perfector in my hair.  Again, my emails and calls to Garnier were not returned.

I am so disappointed with Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Blow Dry Perfector.  The results were so horrible and I needed to get the product out of my hair so fast that I don’t even have pictures to share.  It was a total let down.  I was curious as to what other BzzAgents and people who bought the product themselves to try out had so say about it so I Googled for info.  I am not alone in my disappointment with Blow Dry Perfector.  Based on that information, I can’t see this product being on the shelves for too long.  Even if an onslaught of consumers pick up Blow Dry Perfector to give it a try, I don’t think they are going to have a lot of repeat customers.

If you would like more information on Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Blow Dry Perfector, you can visit Garnier’s Official Site.  If my review hasn’t scared you off and you want to try Blow Dry Perfector for yourself, you can print off a $2 coupon on that site.  Most stores in the Chicagoland area have Blow Dry Perfector priced at about $11.99.
