Estee Lauder & Coach – Holiday 2010

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on October 25, 2010

If you haven’t already heard, Estee Lauder has been trying to re-do their image.  Admit it, when you hear Estee Lauder you totally think grandma make-up.  The boring packing and the lack of shimmer tend to aid in this stereotype.  I will admit that I am actually a fan of one of Estee Lauder’s fragrances:  Beautiful.  When I was in grammar school, I had a teacher that wore Beautiful and one of my classmates and I absolutely fell in love with the scent.  It has been one of my signature scents ever since.  One way it seems that they are trying to connect with a wider range of make-up addicts is by teaming up with Coach to create some limited edition collections for their Holiday 2010 line.

Estee Lauder will be offering four Coach gift sets this holiday season.  What’s Coach’s influence on the sets you ask?  Each of the four gift sets will feature a Coach make-up bag.  Very awesome, no?  Each set with pretty much be the same, the exception being the colors of the cosmetics and the color of the Coach bag.

Each of the four gift sets will feature a Star Waterfront Perfect Palette, 2 Pure Color Crystal Lipsticks, a Pure Color Crystal Lip Gloss, a Creative Professional Eye Liner Pen, a Professional Retractable Powder Brush, a Professional Telescopic Eye Shadow Brush, and a Limited Edition Coach Make-up Bag.  Each set will offer a different colored Coach bag in either Red, Silk, Silver, or Gold.  The color of the cosmetics will also vary from set to set, but I don’t have any information about what the shades will be.

Depending on who you ask, there are a lot of possibilities as to how much these kits will cost and how you can purchase them.  Some believe the kits will be available for purchase outright at about $130 each.  Others say that these are going to be gifts with purchase.  And still others say they will be offered as a something you can purchase if you spend so much on other items.  I personally don’t think these are going to be gifts with purchase.  They would be the most expensive gifts with purchase I’ve ever seen Estee Lauder do.  Offering them as outright purchases seems to be the most realistic option.

I’m on the fence with this one.  Although I love me some Coach, I am not at all excited about the make-up products that are included in these sets.  If the price tag is in fact in the $130 range, I think that is just too much to plunk down for a make-up bag (even a Coach make-up bag) and some less than exciting make-up.

Once more details become available on these Estee Lauder-Coach Holiday Sets I will post them.

What do you think about the Estee Lauder-Coach Holiday gift sets?  Are you a fan of Estee Lauder?  Think it’s time to revamp its image?
