More New Bath & Body Works Stuff

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on January 20, 2011

I had time to kill today so I thought I would run into Bath & Body Works to check out all of their new stuff that I posted about a few days ago.  I also found some more new stuff!

First up, I had to smell the new Island Escape scents.  I loved, loved, loved Bali Mango and Fiji Passionfruit.  They were both very fruity and tropical.  I can just picture sitting on a tropical island while drinking a pina colada with a tower of tropical fruit and a colorful umbrella coming out of it when I smell these scents.  I already know I will be rocking these scents this summer.

I was kind of let down with Hawaii Coconut.  It just smelled like any old coconut scent.  I was hoping that maybe it would have some tropical fruit notes in it to tie the whole Island Escape line together, but I didn’t pick up on any.  If you are a lover of coconut, you will enjoy this scent.  For me, it just reminded me of too many other coconut scented body products that I already have in my stash.

Next up, I checked out the new Slatkin & Co. candles.  Unfortunately, they didn’t have all of the scents in stock.  I did get to smell Island Colada.  Going by the label and the name, I was expecting a pina colada scented candle.  Boy was I wrong.  I don’t know what the hell this was supposed to smell like, but it was God awful.  Nothing at all like a pina colada.  I couldn’t believe that this was a Slatkin candle.  They had some other new scents in the super small sampler size, but they had weird plastic tops on them that weren’t easy to get off so I didn’t really get a chance to smell them.  Guess I’ll just have to go back!

Finally, I got a little surprise.  Apparently, not only did Bath & Body Works do the “ILove…” Pocketbacs they also did “I Love…” lip glosses!  They are so cute.  They had I Heart Bling (Vanilla), I Heart Stilettos (Acai Berry), I Heart Gossip (Plum), and I Heart Candy (I don’t know how else to describe this scent/flavor other to than to say it tasted like candy).  They also had lipglosses in Bali Mango, Fiji Passionfruit, and Hawaii Coconut to go along with the Island Escape body collection.  These are also available online at with the exception of I Heart Candy which I’m sure will be added soon.

In the end, I went home with lotion in Bali Mango and Fiji Passionfruit, a shower gel in Fiji Passionfruit, and lip glosses in I Heart Bling, I Heart Candy, Bali Mango, and Fiji Passionfruit.  I also picked up a few of the “I Love…” Pocketbacs too.  I don’t have time to do swatches of the lip glosses right now, but I will post them and a review ASAP.  But let’s face it, if you’re a Liplicious lip gloss fan you already know that these glosses are great and you’re usually buying for the flavor since these are sheer glosses.

Forgot to mention, the Signature body products were buy 2, get 1 free or buy 3, get 2 free.  The lip glosses were buy 2 get 1 free.

Sorry again for the crappy pictures.  I’m still trying to decide on the new computer.

Have you had a chance to check out the new Island Escape line at Bath & Body Works?  How about the new “I Love…” Liplicious glosses?  Let us know!

Vote To Bring Back Your Favorite Retired Philosophy Shower Gel

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on January 6, 2011

I was going to start this post with “Can you believe that Philosophy is turning 15 this year?”  But then I thought about it and “I can’t believe that Philosophy is only going to be 15 this year” seems more appropriate in my mind.  To me, it seems like Philosophy has always been around so it’s kind of strange to hear that for about the first half of my life it didn’t exist.

But anyways, to celebrate it’s 15th birthday, Philosophy is bringing back a retired shower gel and putting in a spiffy limited-edition bottle design.  Go to Philosophy’s Facebook page and vote for your favorite (click the “Poll” tab on the top of the page). Choices include Peach, Banana, Lemonade, and Fresh Cream.  If you’re a big fan of any of these scents, here’s your chance to bring it back.

Personally, I’m a little bummed in the choices.  While there are some nice scents listed, I wouldn’t classify any of them as a favorite.  If we could request to bring any shower gel fragrance back I would probably vote for Root Beer.  Oh how I loved the Philosophy Root Beer shower gel.

What is your favorite Philosophy shower gel scent?

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on December 29, 2010

You may have already seen that is having they annual after Christmas sale. Philosophy Year-End Sale

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on December 26, 2010 has started their Year-End Sale. Thru December 31st, save up to 40% on select Philosophy products. Most of the sale items are from their holiday collection, but there are a few non-holiday items too. Use coupon / promo code 465HEJ to save an additional 15% off your order.

For the moment, I’m passing on this sale.  Most of the kits that I would be interested in are only discounted by $2-$3.  Not much of a sale.  I wouldn’t mind picking up a few of the Lip Shines that have been marked down to $6, but with shipping being almost $6 that is a deal killer.  Happy Shopping!

Will you be hitting up the Philosophy Year-End Sale?  What did you pick up?

40% Off Plus Free Shipping At

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on December 17, 2010

Good morning, fellow beauty addicts!  My morning is off to a slow start thanks to this “wonderful” cold I have been dealing with for way too many days now.  I’m going to try and muster up the energy to do some swatching and post those swatches later today.  For now, I thought I’d stick to something easy and fun…shopping!  Did you know that today is National Free Shipping Day?  The online deals just keep coming, don’t they?  I came across an amazing online deal that also offers free shipping at  Today only (December 17th), you will receive free shipping on every order at  But wait, it gets better.  Use coupon / promo code SAVE40 and receive 40% off your entire order.  But wait, it gets even better! is a site that allows you to stack coupon codes.  So, if you spend over $50, use coupon code PROMO10Off50 to receive an additional $10 off your order in addition to your 40% off!

This deal is amazing if you ask me.  Carol’s Daughter is a hair and body products brand that burst onto the scene after Oprah named its products as some of her favorite things.  The products can be a little pricey, but they are worth it.  Most of the Carol’s Daughter products I have tried have been picked up during special events at HSN.  I’m glad to finally have the opportunity to pick and choose what I want to try.

I have used the Carol’s Daughter shea butters and body moisturizers and absolutely love them.  They definitely moisturize even the driest skin without leaving that icky greasy feeling behind.  Thanks to the 40% off, I decided to try the Face Butter.  It has a high customer recommendation and I can always use a facial moisturizer.

This year, Carol’s Daughter’s limited edition holiday scent is Sugar-Dipped Vanilla. I haven’t had the chance to smell it yet, but I have been hearing nothing but raves. I did pick up a Sugar-Dipped Vanilla scented kit with shower gel and body cream. My Sweetie is obsessed with vanilla scented products so I’m sure he’ll want to use these products too.

Just a quick note, Carol’s Daughter products are NOT just for African-Americans.  My white Mom, my white sister, and I all adore Carol’s Daughter.  While some of the hair care products are better suited for African-American hair, many of the hair care products and the body products will work with every skin tone.  So don’t be afraid to try Carol’s Daughter if you thought it was only for African-American skin.  You will not be disappointed!

Have you ever tried anything from Carol’s Daughter?  What is your favorite product?  What have you been wanting to try?

Philosophy QVC December 4th Today’s Special Value Review

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on December 14, 2010

If you recall, a few weeks ago I posted that I had put my order in for the December 4th Philosophy Today’s Special on QVC.  Let me just tell you, I am sooooo glad that I ordered this set.  I am over the moon about it.

Philosophy’s Falling In Love fragrance is one of my absolute favorite fragrances.  It is so sweet and romantic.  I am not really a fan of florals and musks.  So it’s no surprise that I selected the TSV in the Falling In Love fragrance.  I’m a fan of the “Graces” too, but none of them are as divine as FIL, in my humble opinion.  Since I already knew what Falling In Love smells like the fragrance was not the surprise in this kit, it was the packaging.

Let me just tell you, it is stunning.  The outer box features a graphic of glitter running along the bottom.  The box is kept shut with an elegant black ribbon.  When you open the box, you are greeted with generous sized bottles of product secured by elegant black velvet (or some kind of velvet look-a-like) covered foam.  The glitter theme continues onto the products.  Each of the bottles of body butter and shower gel as well as the tube of lip gloss have the same glitter graphic that is found on the outer box.  The stunner of the collection has to be the bottle of fragrance.  It doesn’t have a glitter graphic, it actually has glitter all over the bottle.  Philosophy, if you some how come across this post, please consider offering your bottles of fragrance with this glitter exterior all of the time.  It is gorgeous.

This Picture Doesn't Do This Bottle Justice!

If you recall, I wasn’t sure what the lip gloss was flavored like before I placed the order since I placed the order before the presentation.  The gloss is simply a fancied up version of Philosophy’s Bubbly Lip Shine.  It has a champagne taste.

The solid fragrance stick is a nice touch.  It will make a great addition to my purse during the winter months.  If there is any left come summertime it will have to be moved to my bathroom or desk for fear of the melty mess that I might be left with if I leave my purse in the car.  The scent of the solid fragrance smells exactly like the Falling In Love spray fragrance.

I know a lot of people have said that the quality of Philosophy has gone down hill since Cristina Carlino sold the company.  While I totally agree with that thought in some regards, Philosophy has hit it out of the park with this collection.  All of the products have a true Falling In Love scent.  There isn’t a smell of chemicals or alcohol like I’ve heard some people complain of with past products.

If you picked this up for anyone as a Christmas gift, they are going to love you.  Anyone would be absolutely blown away by this collection.

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on December 6, 2010

For 3 days only (thru December 8th), Philosophy is offering select shower gels 3 for $33. That makes them $11 each so you save $5 on each bottle. Currently, there are 34 scents to choose from, but that will change as things sell out.  Use coupon / promo code sharethejoy to take advantage of this offer.

As a good beauty blogger I feel it is my responsibility to offer you a warning if you are thinking about ordering from  It’s now December 6th, and I am still waiting for my orders from Black Friday to ship.  According to my order status, they still haven’t left the warehouse.  So if you need to get your order quickly, it’s possible that that won’t happen.  I know I’m not the only one with shipping issues from Philosophy lately.  There are a lot of people complaining about not having received their Black Friday orders on message boards and blogs.

Did you pick up any of the Philosophy shower gels?  What are your favorite Philosophy scents?

Philosophy QVC Today’s Special Value December 4th 2010

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on November 30, 2010

***UPDATE*** Now it looks like the Philosophy TSV is available for 4 Easy Pays of $14.99 instead of 3 Easy Pays of $19.99.  Is it me, or has QVC been doing this switcheroo with Easy Pay quantities a lot lately?

Can you believe it’s already going to be December tomorrow?  I’ve said it before, but seriously, why didn’t the year move so fast when I was in school???  The good thing about December coming (besides Santa, Christmas cookies, and decorations) is that it brings a new Philosophy Today’s Special Value on QVC.  The good news…you don’t have to wait until December 4th to get your hands on the new Philosophy TSV.  It’s already available for order on

Just in time for Christmas, Philosophy’s latest TSV is a fragrance set.  The Philosophy Kiss Of Grace 5-piece Deluxe Fragrance Collection features (1) 2 oz. spray fragrance, (1) 5 oz. tube of perfumed body butter, (1) 16 oz. bottle of 3-in-1 shampoo, bath & shower gel, (1) 0.09 oz. solid fragrance stick, (1) 0.5 oz. tube of flavored lip shine, all in a lovely gift box with fabric bow.  It is available in your choice of Amazing Grace, Pure Grace, or Falling In Love.  It has a Today’s Special Value Price of $59.98 with 3 Easy Pays of $19.99.  It has a retail value of $132.00 and a QVC price of $72.50.

The packaging for this kit appears to be a special holiday packaging.  I think it looks pretty spiffy

Let me just tell you, I already put my order in for the Falling In Love set.  Falling In Love is one of my most favorite fragrances ever.  The price for the amount of product that you receive is great and the Easy Pay offer seals the deal for me.

I’m curious to see what the Lip Shine is flavored like.  Although this is just my guess, I don’t think it would taste like the fragrances.  Who would want lip gloss that tastes like perfume?  Maybe something minty?  I guess we’ll have to wait and see.  I’m also interested in testing out the solid fragrance stick.  I have never tried any Philosophy fragrance in the solid form.

If you have a Philosophy girl in your life, I think this would make a great Christmas gift for her…that is, if she isn’t already snagging one for herself!  If you have been wanting to try a Philosophy fragrance out, this is also a great kit to do so with.  You get all of the staple products.

Will you be ordering the Philosophy QVC Today’s Special Value?  What fragrance will you be getting?
