Get A $20 Amazon Gift Card For $10

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on January 19, 2011

So this isn’t a beauty related post per se, but it does go along great with a post that I’m going to be posting very shortly.  I’m sure just about everyone has heard of and even used Groupon.  But Groupon isn’t the only daily deal site.  There is great deal going on at Living Social right now. Thru today or while supplies last, get a $20 Amazon.com gift card for only $10.  Who doesn’t shop on Amazon?  Seriously, I do a great majority of my Christmas shopping on there because the deals are so great.  I even have an Amazon Prime membership because I shop on there that much.  And I’m sure you already know that stores like Sephora and Benefit Cosmetics even sell through Amazon.  And, if you’re a Amazon Prime member like me, did you know that Benefit Cosmetics items ship free with Amazon Prime???

I’ll be back in a few with another post on how you can use part of your $20 Amazon gift card.  If you’ve never had an Amazon gift card before, you don’t have to use it up in one order.  Your account keeps track of how much you spent and holds on to the credit until you use it up.  I just wish we could buy multiples of this deal!

Also, if this is your first time using Living Social, the way it works is that they will email you your deal the next day.  So your Amazon code will be delivered to your inbox tomorrow.  Happy Shopping!

Did I Mention I Hate Computers?

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on January 17, 2011

It turns out my computer problems are much worse than expected.  It was not the power supply.  My desktop computer was quite old in computer time, so it’s not worth it to sink the money into it to fix it.  Now the dredded computer shopping begins.  Since this is a blog, you are all obviously reading it over some sort of computer device.  Please tell me that I’m not the only one who dreds computer shopping.  Seriously, the pressure to pick one that will last for awhile, won’t loose speed, has enough memory, won’t be outdated in 2 weeks, etc. has me questioning my decision every 5 minutes.  So until I finally take the plunge and make a decision, I will only have my iPhone photos to use on this blog.  So I apologize in advance if the picture quality it poor.  So, does anyone have any computer suggestions?

Barbie Fashionistas Sassy Shops For Makeup Doll

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on December 8, 2010

This is just too cute not to post about.  As is my normal morning ritual during the holiday shopping season, I was browsing the upcoming Lightning Deals on Amazon this morning and came across something that I think most beauty addicts will love.  Did you know that they have a Barbie Fashionistas Sassy Shops For Makeup Doll???  How darling is she?!?!  It looks like she’s shopping for make-up at a pink and purple version of Sephora.  I love her little shopping basket and the little lipsticks and compacts.

I was a HUGE Barbie fan growing up.  Huge might be an understatement.  Not only did my sister and I have tons and tons and tons of Barbie dolls that we played with, we also received collectible dolls for Christmas and our birthdays.  I think this Barbie Shops For Makeup doll is going to have to be added to my collection.  She won’t be available at the Lightning Deal price until late this afternoon.  Better go and write myself a note so I don’t forget.

Were you a Barbie girl growing up?  Do you still find yourself checking out the Barbie section of the toy store?

“Let’s Go To The Mall Everybody!” – Robin Sparkles

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on November 1, 2010

Sorry it’s been so quiet around here today.  My Mom and I decided to take an impromptu trip to the outlet mall today.  It’s amazing how exhausting shopping can be.  Trying to decide on what I wanted at the Bare Escentuals Outlet alone left me needing a nap!  I’m trying to gather up the energy to post some real posts later on.  Wish me luck!

Finally Home!

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on October 10, 2010

I am finally back home!  My trip to Boston was one of the longest of my life.  An 8 day vacation sounded like a good idea back in July while planning it, but I quickly realized that it is just too long.  And imagine my surprise when I got off the plane and was greeted by 85 degree weather in Chicago!  I’m slowly getting back into the swing of things and can’t wait to get back to posting regularly.  Looking through my inbox, it looks like there have been a lot of happenings in the beauty world this week.  I hope you’re enjoying your weekend!

BAND-AID Brand Bandages By Cynthia Rowley

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on August 26, 2010

Yesterday it was Diane Von Furstenberg hospital gowns, today it’s BAND-AIDs by Cynthia Rowley.  You read that correctly.  Cynthia Rowley has teamed up with BAND-AID to create a limited edition collection of designer Band-Aids.  Each $10 tin contains 20 assorted designer Band-Aids featuring designs by the fabulous Cynthia Rowley.  One dollar from the sale of each tin will go to Design Ignites Change, an organization that engages high school and college students in design and architecture projects that address social issues in their own communities.  The designs are pretty snazzy.  Remember when you were little and your Mom or Dad would buy Band-Aids with your favorite characters on them so you would fake an injury just to wear a Hello-Kitty Band-Aid?  These Cynthia Rowley Band-Aids may induce an adult version of that scenario!

So, who thinks that the next announcement is going to be hospital bedding by Ralph Lauren?  Too funny!

WTF? Hilary Duff’s Wedding Hair

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on August 19, 2010

I’m pretty indifferent when it comes to Hilary Duff. I was too old to be a Lizzie McGuire fan and it seems that most of her movies have been of the teeny-bopper variety and so I have not seen any of them. So as the internet gossip sites were abuzz with news of her weekend wedding, I could care less. But this morning, as I logged on to the internet I was greeted with the first official pictures from Hilary Duff’s wedding courtesy of OK Magazine. All I can say is what the hell is up with Hilary Duff’s hair-do? Now I know that celebrities are always getting all dolled up and thus when it’s time for their wedding they don’t have that “one chance to feel like a princess” feeling that many brides experience, but is this seriously the hair-do that Hilary would associate with her big day?  Her hair is simply pulled up in a loose looking bun.  It’s not even a slick and sophisticated bun, it’s a messy “does anyone have an extra ponytail holder so I can quickly toss up my hair” kind of bun.  As I type this post this morning, I have the very same hair-do going on. That is how I wear my hair to bed every night…quickly tossed up in a bun-esque look to prevent kinks and tangles.  You can go to OK Magazine’s website for more exclusive pictures of Hilary’s big bun day.  What do you think about Hilary’s hair-do?  Is it a hair-don’t?  Am I just too critical and opinionated?

Lucky Magazine Photoshops Curve-Loving Jessica Simpson

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on August 13, 2010

Lucky Magazine and Jessica Simpson are under fire as accusations of photoshopping the current cover image as well as the photos accompanying the story have been floating around.  I came across this story here.  Any beauty/fashion magazine reader should know that Jessica has been pretty vocal lately about true beauty and accepting women for the way they are naturally.  She even mentions being accepting of her curves in this issue of Lucky!  You know, I want to ask, “Haven’t these magazines learned their lesson about the negative perception by consumers of photoshopping photos?”  But then I have to wonder, is this over-photoshopping craze really just more of a publicity stunt?  Lucky Magazine is all over the internet right now, being looked at and analyzed by tons and tons of people.   This is probably the most publicity and face time Lucky Magazine has received in awhile.  Was that their ultimate goal?  And then how much say-so does the celebrity have in these issues?  What do you guys think?  You can see pictures and info of Jessica Simpson from this issue of Lucky at their website. You can also see what kind of comments are being left for Lucky there as well.
