Tom’s Of Maine Wicked Fresh! Toothpaste Review

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on December 13, 2010

I am a BzzAgent. For those of you who are unaware of BzzAgent it is a company that promotes word of mouth campaigns through everyday people like you and me. If you are selected to be part of a given BzzAgent campaign, you’re usually sent a product to test out as well as a few coupons or samples to pass out to others to get the word out there about a new product.

I’ve said it a million times before.  Real beauty addicts are just as crazy about skin care and oral hygiene as they are about cosmetics.  I have been so anal about my teeth from such a young age that many people thought I would become a dentist.  Whenever new oral hygiene products come I’m often times just as giddy to test them out as I am to test out new make-up products.  I’ve been reading about Tom’s Of Maine Toothpaste for years in beauty and style magazines.  Strange places to read about it I guess, but beauty editors were always raving about this natural toothpaste and many celebrities claimed that it was always in their beauty must have bags.

When I was selected to the BzzAgent Tom’s Of Maine Wicked Fresh! Toothpaste Campaign I was very excited.  Even though I had been hearing raves about Tom’s Of Maine for years, I had never given it a try.  BzzAgent sent me a tube of Wicked Fresh! Cool Peppermint Toothpaste to try out.

Tom’s Of Maine toothpaste promises to provide long-lasting fresh breath, naturally, without alcohol or artificial ingredients.  It contains fluoride to help fight cavities and comes in two flavors:  Cool Peppermint and Spearmint Ice.  As a company as a whole, Tom’s Of Maine does not engage in animal testing or use animal ingredients, nor does it use any artificial colors, flavors, fragrance, or preservatives.  They are also into practicing sustainability in every aspect of their business and strive to maximize recycled content and recyclability of their packaging.  I love this last part…5% (or 12 days) of employee time is dedicated to volunteering and 10% of profits are donated to human and environmental goodness.  Seriously, I’d love to work for a company that had days where we did volunteer work.

So how did Tom’s Of Main Wicked Fresh! Toothpaste stand up to its promises?  Quite well, I think.  Let me first start by saying that when I told my BFF that I was taking part in this campaign she responded, “Isn’t that the hippy toothpaste?”  I think most of us have heard that reference with regards to Tom’s Of Maine.  So I was a little concerned that maybe this toothpaste wouldn’t be like toothpastes that I have used in the past in that it would be earthy and granola-y…that is brown with twigs in it!  So not the case.  Tom’s Of Maine is just like any other tooth paste in that it is pastey and in a tube.  It’s white in color too.

Since I received the Cool Peppermint flavor I was expecting a cool rush of minty flavor.  That really wasn’t the case.  To me, it almost tasted like licorice.  The more I used it, the more I could pick up mint flavors, but it really wasn’t that cool burst of peppermint that I was expecting.

I will say that Tom’s Of Main Wicked Fresh! Toothpaste left my teeth feeling incredibly clean.  For hours after brushing my teeth, they still felt unbelievably smooth when I would run my tongue over my teeth.  As for the fresh breath, I don’t normally had bad breath and this toothpaste didn’t leave me with bad breath.  I asked my Sweetie if my breath was fresh and minty clean and he said that he couldn’t smell anything.  I asked him this a few times each day for a week.  So I don’t know if this really gives you fresh minty breath or if it just helps to make sure you don’t have stinky breath or what.  The good news is that I didn’t have stinky breath as a result of using this toothpaste.

Overall, I really liked Tom’s Of Maine Wicked Fresh! Toothpaste.  It may not have left me with cool breath like Mr. Freeze, but it left me with clean teeth and odor-less breath (if there is such a thing).

Tom’s Of Maine Toothpaste can be found at a number of big box stores (i.e. Target and Wal-mart) as well as many grocery stores and pharmacies.  It retails for about $4.  For more information visit the Tom’s Of Maine website at TomsOfMaine.com.  You can also go here to request a free sample of Tom’s Of Maine Wicked Fresh! Toothpaste while supplies last.

Disclaimer:  BzzAgent provided me a full size Tom’s Of Maine Wicked Fresh! Toothpaste for the purpose of this review as well as 2 travel sized Tom’s Of Maine Wicked Fresh! Toothpaste samples so that others coud give it a try.  All of the opinions expressed in this review are my own and have in no way been influenced by BzzAgent, Tom’s Of Maine, or any other company or person.

Budget Beauty Monday – Rembrandt Whitening Mouthwash

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on August 2, 2010

It’s Monday…time for Budget Beauty Monday!!! Let’s face it. After the weekend we usually end up feeling like we ate too much, drank too much, spent too much, and didn’t do enough around the house. So I figure Monday on AnotherBeautyBlog.com should feature budget beauty products that won’t break the bank so you won’t feel bad about wanting to run out and get them.

For me, you cannot truly be a beauty addict if you aren’t concerned with your teeth.  Let’s face it, your smile is often one of the first things people notice.  And even if you have perfect skin, perfect hair, perfect make-up, etc. if you have yellow teeth it ruins everything.  For today’s Budget Beauty Monday I wanted to spotlight a product that has been a permanent part of my oral health routine since I first tried it out:  Rembrandt Whitening Mouthwash.

I have always been anal about my teeth.  Ever since I was a little girl, I was obsessed with brushing and flossing.  And, even though it sounds really bad, as I child I couldn’t get over people with bad teeth (it still bothers me today, but I probably don’t say as many bad things when I see bad teeth now).  Everyone thought I would eventually become a dentist because of my fascination.   Sorry, but I would never be able to deal with bad teeth as a profession!  Anyways, as a result of my quest for perfect teeth I have tried pretty much every oral hygiene product out there.  Rembrandt Whitening Mouthwash is one of the few products that I have loved so much that I have actually told people that they MUST try.

The secret weapon found in Rembrandt Whitening Mouthwash is hydrogen peroxide.  As soon as you take a swig of the mouthwash the hydrogen peroxide starts working on contact to get to those deep down stains.  Unlike other mouthwashes, Rembrandt Whitening Mouthwash feels like it starts to foam up in your mouth.  It feels like it’s really grabbing on to your teeth and breaking down all of those miniscule stains that you’re not even aware of.

The results of Rembrandt Whitening Mouthwash are amazing!  Now, my teeth were pretty good to begin with.  My friends always make fun of me when I complain or comment about trying out a new product because they would tell me my teeth are already white enough.  Believe it or not, Rembrandt Whitening Mouthwash made them even whiter!  After one week of using it, my Sweetie even said, “You’re teeth look really white.”

And let me just tell you, I have used Rembrandt Whitening Mouthwash everyday for over a year and my teeth do not hurt!  You know how sometimes when you use whitening products you’re left with sensitive teeth.  Not the case (at least for me) with this mouthwash.

You should be able to find Rembrandt Whitening Mouthwash at most drugstores and grocery stores ranging in price from $7 – $8 or even less with a sale.  I’ve been getting mine from Walgreens.  If you have been looking for a whitening product that actually works, I highly recommend Rembrandt Whitening Mouthwash.  You can sign up at Rembrandt.com for coupons.

Have you tried Rembrandt Whitening Mouthwash?  Love it?  Hate it?  Is there another “budget” whitening product you’re crazy about?  Feel free to post a comment!
