Target.com Daily Deals – Burt’s Bees

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on December 19, 2010

The Target.com Daily Deals for today, December 19th, are all Burt’s Bees products. I picked up a 4 pack of Burt’s Bees Lip Balms with a key chain for under $5 shipped tax included!  Delivery is before Christmas too!  Great stocking stuffer idea.  I love Burt’s Bees lip balms.  They feel amazing.  I always try to find some of the gift packs discounted at Target after Christmas.  This Daily Deal says me the hassle.

As if the Daily Deal price and free shipping wasn’t great enough, use coupon / promo code JUH5H3OD to save an additional 10%.  Remember, Target Daily Deals are only good thru the day or until the items sell out.

E.L.F. Eyeshadow Palette – 100 Shades $5 Shipped

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on December 5, 2010

Let me start by saying that I have not tried this palette.  In general, I am not a fan of ELF products.  While their products are ridiculously cheap, I have found that the quality has just not been there with any of the products I have tried out.  But, at the same time, there are tons of people out there that swear by ELF.  So for all of you ELF lovers out there, I wanted to make sure you were aware of some ELF deals that Target.com is currently having.  Select ELF products are not only on sale but also come with free shipping!  The ELF Eyeshadow Palette – 100 Shades is on sale for only $5 with free shipping (down from $10).  This palette features 100 shades of eyeshadow packed in a 9″ palette.   If you are a fan of ELF Cosmetics, this may be a good time to stock up.  It’s always nice to find free shipping with no minimum purchase required.

I have no clue whether or not these sales prices are also offered in-store.  I also have no idea how long these sale prices and free shipping offer is good for.  I know, I’m just full of information today.  Happy Shopping!

Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Cream Shadow Review

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on October 28, 2010

About a month and a half ago, I posted that I had pre-ordered the Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Cream Shadow from QVC.  After weeks and weeks of waiting, it has finally been delivered and it’s time for a review!

If you recall, I picked the Rose Gold shade when I ordered.  Apparently, they have changed the name to Slate.  Personally, I think they name Rose Gold is more appropriate for this shade as opposed to Slate.  When I hear Slate I think of more gray and silver tones.  While I can see a little of the gray and silver tones in the Slate shade, I do see a lot more rose and gold tones.

For $22.80 I received .1 oz. of Slate Amazonian Clay Waterproof Cream Shadow as well as a Tarte Cream Shadow Brush.  If you ask me, the brush is useless.  My first attempts at sweeping the brush across the cream shadow were fruitless.  Absolutely no shadow attached to the brush bristles.  Given the fact that the brush is very soft and the shadow is somewhat hard, it is not very easy to push the brush into the shadow.  I used my finger to push the bristles into the shadow pot and eventually just used my finger to apply the shadow as well.  After I “broke in” the shadow, the brush worked a little better, but not that great.

The Amazonian Clay Waterproof Cream Shadow itself is really quite beautiful, if understated.  Surprisingly, I went with a more neutral shade when selecting my shade as opposed to going with the bolder purple and green shades.  I did this because I have been neglecting the more neutral shades as of a late and seem to be amassing a surplus of bolder purples and greens.  That being said, when I watched the initial presentation for the Amazonian Clay Waterproof Cream Shadow, the Rose Gold (now Slate) shade did look like it was going to be a more bold shade than what I am experiencing.  The swatch on my arm looks a lot bolder than when I wear it on my eyes.  Perhaps if I layer it over another shadow or base I will get more of a pop.  If you are a Bare Escentuals girl, this Slate shade reminds me of a combination of Nude Beach and Drama.  I think that pairing Slate with either of these shadows will leave amazing results.

There is some shimmer to the Slate shade of Amazonian Clay Waterproof Cream Shadow.  It’s not glittery.  It’s almost like a sheer metallic shimmer.  It is not over the top and would be suitable for day wear in the office.

As far as the durability of Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Cream Shadow goes, it is long-lasting.  I put it on in at 8 in the morning and when I looked in the mirror after dinner at about 7 in the evening, the shadow was still there.  It had faded slightly, but not drastically.  I did not have any issues with creasing, but I am fortunate that creasing usually isn’t an issue for me.  Since this is a cream shadow, if you have had issues with creasing in the past, you may have that issue here.

I do have an issue with the size of this product.  You only receive .1 oz. of product.  A quick glance at some of the more popular cream shadows out there shows that they all give you more product.  The other cream shadows are also cheaper.  That being said, they don’t come with a brush, but as I already said, the brush in this set is rather useless.  I personally would rather spend less money and get more shadow without a brush then spend more money and get less shadow with a brush.

Overall, I liked the new Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Cream Shadow.  Liked, not loved.  The shadow was great, but the brush was a waste.  I would love to see a lower price on the shadow sans the brush.  I would be more interested in picking up another shade that way.  The other bad thing is that there are only 4 shades of this shadow available and if you ask me, there isn’t a lot of variety.  If you already have a favorite line of cream shadows, I wouldn’t run out to pick these up.  If you’re interested in trying out cream shadows for the first time or you’re interested in checking out new cream shadows then I would give these a look.  Just know that if you’re looking for bright and bold shades, you are not going to find them here.

Have you tried the new Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Cream Shadows yet?  Love them?  Like them?  Hate them?

Target Daily Deal – Sonia Kashuk Out Of The Woods Brush Set

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on September 15, 2010

Sonia Kashuk is once again part of the Target Daily Deal.  Today only, you can get the Sonia Kashuk Out Of The Woods 4-piece Brush Set with Purse for only $6.99 with free shipping. That’s a savings of $6. This set is similar to the 6-piece Sonia Kashuk brush set that was a Target Daily Deal a few weeks ago. So if you missed out on the last brush deal here’s your second chance.

If you’re not familiar with Sonia Kashuk brushes, they are pretty awesome. I think SK brushes are some of the best budget beauty tools out there.  Not to mention that they are just some of the cutest too.  I swear, I’m always tempted to buy SK brushes just because of how they look even though I have more than enough brushes to last me 5 life times. If you’re a budget beauty shopper looking for some new brushes I would highly recommend any of Sonia Kashuk’s brushes.

As with every Target Daily Deal, this deal is only available today while supplies last. Be warned, a lot of Target’s Daily Deals have been selling out.

Sonia Kashuk Breast Cancer Limited Edition Collection At Target

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on September 14, 2010

I have always loved October solely for the fact that so many cosmetics companies offer such great palettes, kits, and products with portions going to help the fight against Breast Cancer.  After my Mom was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, I was even more excited about these collections.  It’s been a little over 10 years since my Mom was diagnosed and she remains cancer-free.  I was a huge supporter of the fight against Breast Cancer before my Mom was diagnosed and I still remain a huge supporter now that she has been cured.  So when I start seeing pink beauty products popping up around this time of year I start getting really excited.

While it’s still September, some stores and companies are getting a jump start on October by offering Breast Cancer Awareness merchandise.   Target has already released the latest Sonia Kashuk Breast Cancer Limited Edition Collection.  The collection features a trio of nail polishes (“Lend A Hand”), a duo of sponges (“Brighten Your Day”), a set of four brushes (“Seeing Pink”), an eyelash curler and tweezer set (“Primping For A Cause”), a 6-piece brush set (“Circle Around A Cause”), a 3 shadow eye palette (“Pretty In Pink”), and a kabuki brush (“Circle Of Hope”).  Obviously, every piece in the collection is sporting a shade of pink.  Prices range from $5.99 – $21.99.

I have to say, I’m kind of digging the brushes in this collection.  God knows that cosmetics brushes are the last thing I need, but I love how the handles of the Circle Of Hope kabuki brush and the Circle Around A Cause 6-piece brush set kind of resemble canned food cans.

The shades of eye shadow in the Pretty In Pink palette look beautiful, but based on the picture I have a feeling they are just a glittery mess.  Don’t get me wrong, I love glitter, but I don’t want major glitter fallout all over my face.

The Sonia Kashuk Breast Cancer Limited Edition Collection is a limited edition collection. It’s already available online and in Target stores.

Budget Beauty Monday – Sequin Ballet Flats

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on August 9, 2010

It’s Monday…time for Budget Beauty Monday!!! Let’s face it. After the weekend we usually end up feeling like we ate too much, drank too much, spent too much, and didn’t do enough around the house. So I figure Monday on AnotherBeautyBlog.com should feature budget beauty products that won’t break the bank so you won’t feel bad about wanting to run out and get them.

Today’s Budget Beauty Monday piece is a little different. I wanted to pass on a great deal I found. What’s better than budget beauty? Budget shoes!

Let me just tell you, I cannot wait for Fall to get here. I’m grateful to live in Chicago where we get to experience all four seasons (sometimes in the same day), but this summer seems to have been exceptionally harsh. We have never used the air conditioning as much as we have this summer. It has been so damn humid that my hair is desperately calling for Fall too.

What does this have to do with this post? As I’ve been perusing the upcoming Fall trends and lines I am ecstatic to see that sequins and sparkle and front and center. Be it a handbag, a sweater, a cotton shirt, or even shoes, sequins can be found on everything. Let me just tell you, I am a lover of all things sparkle. Not in the gaudy showgirl sense, but in the sophisticated, elegant sense. And that is definitely a trend I am seeing for this Fall.  Gone are the harsh giant sequins, sewn awkwardly onto the garment so that they stick out and are almost weapon-like.  The new sequined garments and accessories feature mini sequins that are sewn flat giving the item the perfect amount of shimmer and shine.

A few weeks ago, I was at Kohl’s and saw that they had just put out the new Vera Wang shoe line for the Fall. I immediately fell in love with the Olivier Flats, a pair of black sequined ballet flats.   The $54.99 price tag, not so much (they weren’t on sale yet).  I found myself thinking about the Vera Wang flats for the next few days.  Just as I convinced myself that $54.99 wasn’t really that much money and was about to go to Kohl’s to pick up the Olivier Flats fate intervened and I took a trip to Target.

Let me just tell you, I think I startled a woman in the shoe department when I let out a shriek when I saw the Mossimo Odell Sequin Ballet Flats.  They were the same color and same sequins as the Vera Wang Olivier Flats, but at $12.99 they were a steal.  In to the cart they went, I didn’t even give it a second thought.

Of course, there are some differences between the two pairs of shoes.  First of all, it’s a given that the Vera Wang shoes are most likely a better quality.  That being said, I still don’t think any sequined shoe is going to be of such a great quality that it would survive rain or snow.  At $12.99 I’m not going to worry if I’m out and the weather turns crappy where as at $54.99 I would take my shoes off and walk barefoot in the snow.  You know what I mean?  Second, as with almost every Vera Wang flat I have seen, the Olivier flats have the stretch sides where as the Mossimo shoes do not.

If you are as excited about the sequin trend as I am, I highly recommend checking out the budget version of the Vera Wang Olivier Flats.  What sequined items have you come across that you’ve added to your wardrobe?  Please leave a comment and let us know!
