Holy @#$! Beauty Clearance At JCPenney

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on February 15, 2011

***Update ***  Some have asked which fragrances of Korres I found.  They had large duos of body butter and shower gel in Basil Lemon and Jasmine.  There was also a Korres kit that had 5 fragrances of body butter and 5 matching shower gels in Basil Lemon, Jasmine, Guava, Fig, and Japanese Rose.  I believe the individual body butter in the Happy Holidays box was Japanese Rose, but it’s not in front of me at the moment so I can’t say for sure.  Hope this helps!

I have mentioned the unbelievable deals that I have been finding at my local JCPenney since the end of the holiday season. If you’ve missed them, my local JCP doesn’t have a permanent Sephora inside of it. During the holiday season, a small Sephora section popped up with some of the must have holiday kits that Sephora sells from Bare Escentuals, Korres, Stila, Tokidoki, Sephora, Kat Von D, and more. After Christmas, the items that they had left began to be marked down. A few weeks ago, I posted that the items that they had left were marked down to half off. I really didn’t think they would go lower than that. Let me just tell you, they went lower. They went unbelievably lower. They went holy @#$! lower!

I let out a noticable gasp when I saw that Korres kits that were $29 and $35 originally were marked $2.97!!!  An individual Korres Body Butter in a Happy Holidays box was $0.47!!!  The Tokidoki Robbery Palette that was $49 was marked $2.97!!!  The Bare Escentuals Shimmer & Shine kit that was $54 was marked $2.97!!!  I grabbed one of those black mesh shopping totes and started throwing stuff in as fast as I could!  The BE Shimmer & Shine kit had to have been a customer return because I haven’t seen one of these at this JCP since around Christmas.  Everything was still sealed.

I’m almost embarrassed to admit how much I bought.  Let me preface that by saying that my Mom works at a department store and my sister is a waitress.  They both like to give a little something to all of their co-workers for birthdays and Christmas and whatnot.  So 90% of what I picked up will be used for gifts.  I will also donate some items to a women’s domestic violence center.  With that being said, I picked up about 50 items that should have totaled $844.  My total was…drumroll, please…$69.12!!!  I wouldn’t have been able to pick up 2 of the larger Korres gift sets for that price!  Oh, I didn’t even clear the shelf.  There were still a bunch of products left.

I’ve said it a bunch of times before, but now you really have to listen to me, if your JCPenney doesn’t have a permanent Sephora in it but had a pop-up section during the holidays, run to it right now and see if they have any items left.

Tokidoki Gelato Lip Balm Stain Review And Swatches

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on February 9, 2011

When Tokidoki first popped onto the make-up scene, I think most beauty addicts wondered if this was going to be a brand that had amazing packaging but less than stellar products.  I think it’s safe to say that Tokidoki has far surpassed expectations both packaging-wise and product-wise.  Their eye shadows are amazing.  And I always get a “Oooohhh, what’s that?” when I pull out a Tokidoki item from my purse.  When I saw their new Tokidoki Gelato Lip Balm Stain a few weeks ago, I knew I had to pick one up.

Tokidoki touts their Gelato Lip Balm Stain as a moisturizing lip balm with staining abilities.  Intriguing, right?  Especially since the most common complaint about lip stains seems to be the fact that they tend to dry out lips.  Tokidoki Gelato Lip Balm Stains are available in four shades:  Ciao Ciao (glossy clear with a mint flavor), Donutella (sheer coral strawberry with a melon flavor), Pink Martini (sheer hot pink with a cherry flavor), and Skeletrina (sheer grape with a grape flavor).  I picked up Donutella.  So what did I think?

I love the Donutella Gelato Lip Balm Stain!  It is exactly as described in that it feels like a moisturizing balm but still has the staining ability.  The melon flavor was subtle, which is a great thing for those who can’t stand over-powering scents and flavors.  The Donutella shade was perfect for me.  It gave my lips the perfect natural flush.  My lips had that “I’ve been drinking Kool-Aid” kind of look that great stains deliver.  The color wasn’t too bright, but it definitely brightened up my look.  I can’t wait to use this while creating Spring looks.

The packagaing is so cute.  The Tokidoki characters will grab the attention of anyone who sees you pull this baby out of your bag.

Okay, now for the bad.  If you are looking for a super long-lasting lip stain, you’re not going to find it here.  When I first applied the Gelato Lip Balm Stain, there was a bit of shininess to it.  The shine went away after about 15 minutes or so and then I was left with a gorgeous natural flush.  After about 2 hours or so of wear-time, you can tell that the color starts to fade.  The color still lasts for about another 2 hours or so, but you can tell that as time goes by so does the color.

Now, I have to admit, I wasn’t that put off by the fact that the color started to fade.  I don’t know if this will be true of the other shades, but with Donutella, even as the color started to fade I was still left with very pretty naturally flushed lips.  I guess it depends on how vivid you want your lip color to be.

Tokidoki Gelato Lip Balm Stain Donutella Swatch In The Sun

Tokidoki Gelato Lip Balm Stain Donutella Swatch Out Of The Sun

One thing that baffles me about these new Tokidoki Gelato Lip Balm Stains is the fact that one of the shades is clear.  Isn’t a stain supposed to leave a stain of color on your lips?  Kind of strange, isn’t it?

The Tokidoki Gelato Lip Balm Stains are priced at only $9 each.  Amazing price for a great product.

Have you picked up any of the new Tokidoki Gelato Lip Balm Stains?  Which one do you have your eye on?

tokidoki Pittura Brush Set

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on July 6, 2010

How adorable is this new Pittura Brush Set from tokidoki?  I can picture these little guys making themselves at home in the brush mug on my bathroom sink.  This set includes three brushes:  an eyeshadow brush, a crease brush, and an eyeliner brush.  I think each brush type is pretty self-explanatory so I’m not going to go into what each one does.  Each brush is topped with a cute character and has funky graphics going down the handle.  The bristles themselves are white with colored tips.  All can be used wet or dry allowing you create a ton of looks.  What else can I say, these brushes are just too cute for words.  At $35, it’s not a bad deal either.  Can you ever have too many make-up brushes?

tokidoki was a brand that I was a little worried about when it first came out.  I thought it was going to be a brand that was all about the packaging with a just so-so product.  But I have to admit, I’ve been pleasantly surprised with every tokidoki product I’ve tried.  More on that later!
