I have good news.  Remember the sneak peek Urban Decay gave us of 3 new palettes last week? They are now available for purchase on UrbanDecay.com.

There are 3 new eye shadow palettes:  Dangerous, Feminine, and Fun.

The Dangerous Palette features the eye shadow shades Haight, Virgin, Mildew, Oil Slick, Rockstar, Gunmetal and travel-sizes of 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Rockstar and Greed Eyeshadow Primer Potion.

The Feminine Palette features the eye shadow shades Stray Dog, Ecstasy, SWF, Darkhorse, Aquarius, Midnight Cowboy, and travel-sizes of 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero and Eden Eyeshadow Primer Potion.

The Fun Palette features the eye shadow shades Woodstock, Psychedelic Sister, Baked, Sin, Flipside, Uzi, and travel sizes of 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Oil Slick and Original Eyeshadow Primer Potion.

Each palette is priced at $34.  Right now, I’m only seeing these palettes available on UrbanDecay.com, but I’m sure they will start popping up in other stores soon.

Which palette do you have your eye on?  Or do you already own most of these colors and will be passing?

Budget Beauty Monday – Wet N Wild 8 Pan Palettes Swatches And Review

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on February 7, 2011

It’s Monday…time for Budget Beauty Monday!!! Let’s face it. After the weekend we usually end up feeling like we ate too much, drank too much, spent too much, and didn’t do enough around the house. So I figure Monday on AnotherBeautyBlog.com should feature budget beauty products that won’t break the bank so you won’t feel bad about wanting to run out and get them.

Can you believe that I haven’t used my car since last Monday?  Ever since the blizzard hit Chicago last week I have not been out.  Let me just tell you, a Mustang in snow and ice slides like a hockey puck in an ice rink.  Today, the streets were finally cleaned up enough that I could venture out into the world and continue my quest for the Wet N Wild 8 Pan Palettes.  I’m happy to report that I finally found them at Walgreens!

There are 3 versions of the new Wet N Wild 8 Pan Palettes.  736 Petal Pusher features a variety of purple and violet shades.  737 Blue Had Me At Hello features a wide range of blue shades including teal, navy, and sky.  738 Comfort Zone features neutral brown shades as well as a green shade.

All of these palettes feature the high quality eye shadows that we have come to expect and love from Wet N Wild.  They are highly pigmented and long-lasting.  They feel extremely creamy when being applied.  None of this is new.  If you loved the Wet N Wild Coloricon Shadow Trios or the Limited Edition Holiday Pixie Palettes or any of the Wet N Wild eye shadows, you will love these too.

Most of the shadows in all of these palettes have either some sort of shimmer or metallic finish to them.  In my opinion, one of the “definer” shadows in the Blue Had Me At Hello palette is the only true matte of the bunch.  I personally prefer the shimmer and metallic shadows so this is good news for me.  But if you are a fan of the 6 pan palettes that featured 3 shimmer shadows and 3 mattes, you will not find that here.

As soon as I saw 736 Petal Pusher, I immediately thought of the 2010 Wet N Wild Limited Edition Holiday Pixie Palette Sugar Plum Fairy.  Although it’s not exactly the same, it’s a great option to pick up if you missed out on the Holiday Palettes.  This is a great palette to pick up for the Spring as it features a number of purples, violets, and plums…some of the hot shades for the upcoming season.

If you’re a fan of color, 737 Blue Had Me At Hello will probably jump out at you.  There is a gorgeous bright teal shade that you will want to play with.  So many people are afraid of blue shadows for fear of looking like they stepped out of a 1980s time machine.  Get over it, people!  Blue can be done in a tasteful way.  It’s more than possible to create an elegant look with this palette due to complimenting shades in this palette.  Just use a light hand if you’re worried about getting carried away!

Of the 3, I think 738 Comfort Zone will probably be the most popular due to the neutrality of the palette.  It features a range of beiges and browns as well as a coppery-red shade, a peachy shade, and an olive green shade.  I had to go to 3 Walgreens to find this palette, so I think that’s an indication of which palette people are picking up.  You’ll definitely be able to use this palette for a demure office day look, but it also has the ability to transform that look into a fun night out look.  At the moment, Comfort Zone is my favorite of the 3 palettes.

If you’re still upset that you missed out on the 2010 Limited Edition Holiday Pixie Palettes, dry your eyes.  These new Wet N Wild 8 Pan Palettes are great substitutes.  And since these are NOT limited edition, you won’t have to worry about fighting with other beauty addicts to get yours!

Just a note, I talked to one of the beauty girls at Walgreens and she said that they had only received 2 of each palette in the initial shipment.  So if you’re having problems finding all of the palettes at one store, just keep checking.  They will be getting more in.  The first 2 Walgreens I went to this morning only had 1 each of the Petal Pusher and Blue Had Me At Hello palettes.  The third Walgreens had 2 of the Blue Had Me At Hello palette and 1 each of the Petal Pusher and Comfort Zone palettes.

The new Wet N Wild 8 Pan Palettes are priced at $4.99 each.  At the moment, they are only available at Walgreens and Wal-mart.  They are NOT limited edition products.  I know there has been some debate as to whether or not they were, but they are NOT.

And now, for my usual disclaimer.  Again, I am so sorry for the iPhone pictures.  My photo software for my new computer is supposed to be delivered this week.  I cannot wait to use a real camera for taking swatch pictures again!

Have you found the new Wet N Wild 8 Pan Palettes yet?  Which is your favorite?

Tarte Achiote Cheek Tint & Lip Luster Duo Review And Swatches

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on February 3, 2011

It’s no secret that I am a fan of Tarte Cosmetics.  So when Tarte was on QVC recently during their Beautiful You, Try Something New event I was very happy to see a ton of new items.  I showed a little restraint, but I still picked up a bunch of new products from Tarte.  Of the new products I have received so far, I would have to say that the Achiote Cheek Tint & Lip Luster Duo is my favorite.

The Achiote Duo features a Tarte Cheek Tint in a beautiful mirrored compact as well as a new Lip Luster lip crayon both in the peachy-pink Achiote shade.  Tarte claims that both items provide natural looking color and are long-wear products.

When I saw the presentation on the Tarte Achiote Cheek Tint & Lip Luster Duo, I was immediately sold.  The color looked great on the models and given my love for Tarte I knew the quality would be there.  This duo did not disappoint.  The color is amazing and gives me such a natural look that would make you say “you look nice” as opposed to your make-up looks nice,” you know what I mean?

At first look, the Achiote shade looks very pink.  But after you apply the products, you see that it is much more of a peachy-pink shade.  Both the cheek tint and the lip luster appear to have a lot of shimmer, at first look.  The lip luster does have a touch of shimmer when applied, but the cheek tint doesn’t really have any shimmer when applied.  The look of the cheek tint on the skin is very similar to that of the Tarte Cheek Stains; that is it leaves you with a nice glow.  The swatch pictures do not do this shade justice!

I love the new Tarte Lip Lusters.  It felt so smooth and creamy when I applied it to my lips.  It really does combine the best of lipsticks and lipglosses in that it has a creamy feel and coverage like a lipstick but the shine of a gloss.  Of course, we’re not talking about high shine here.  Luster really is the best name and description for this product.  There is a very nice minty flavor when you first apply the Lip Luster as well.  It doesn’t last very long, but it is a nice little surprise when you first apply.  There isn’t a tingling feeling or anything like that that you might associate peppermint with.  The color seems to last between 4 and 5 hours for me.

As for the Cheek Tint, this is another homerun.  First off, the compact is really great.  It has a beautiful design on the cover, it contains a nice sized mirror, and it closes securely.  I hate it when you get a compact that doesn’t close well and then you have to worry about opening in your purse, make-up bag, etc. I don’t think you will have that problem with this compact.  As I already said, the finish on this product is very similar to that of Tarte Cheek Stains.  Honestly, I don’t know why this product is a “Cheek Tint” and not a “Cheek Stain” because for me the look and wear-time is the same as the Cheek Stains.  The only difference is that it is housed in a compact and not the push-up stick.  When applied, you are left with a beautiful, natural glow.  I have used this Cheek Tint everyday since I have gotten it and it has paired well with a wide range of colors and looks.  For me, the color lasts at least 8 hours (that’s when I stopped checking the mirror and my watch).

Both the Cheek Tint and Lip Luster are sheer, but buildable.  A little goes a long way, especially if you’re going for the natural glow look.  The Achiote color is a very flattering shade that should work for most skin types.

Overall, I absolutely LOVE the new Tarte Achiote Cheek Tint & Lip Luster Duo.  The color is so gorgeous and really leaves you with such a natural glow.  It will be perfect for the upcoming Spring and Summer.  And it’s not just the color that I love, it’s the products themselves.  I already picked up 2 more of the Lip Lusters which I will post a review and swatches for later.

The Tarte Achiote Cheek Tint & Lip Luster Duo is available at QVC.com for $35 with a retail value of $49. During Beautiful You, Try Something New, I picked this up for $28.93. Having tried this duo out, I would pick it up at $35 in a heartbeat.

Did you pick up the Tarte Achiote Cheek Tint & Lip Luster Duo?  Have you tried any of the new Tarte Lip Lusters?  What do you think?

30% Off Coach Factory Outlet

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on February 2, 2011

If you’re not covered in snow and able to actually get out of your driveway (which, I’m not able to do at the moment due to the multiple feet of snow we have here…and let me just tell you, we have snow drifts of 5 feet and greater up against our garage door and front porch…crazyness), here’s a new printable coupon to save 30% at the Coach Factory Outlet Store. This is a goodie. I can’t remember the last time I’ve seen a 30% off coupon.  There are bound to be some fantastic deals available.  Let me just tell you, I am so bummed that we are beyond covered in snow and that I won’t be able to get out to the Coach Outlet to use this coupon.  It must be a sign from God to let me know that I don’t need another bag, but I am kind of digging the pink bag in the picture above.  Anyways, the coupon is good thru Sunday, February 6, 2011.  Whoa…are we really already in February?!?!

Sneak Peek – New Urban Decay Palettes

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on February 1, 2011

Get your butt over to Urban Decay’s Facebook page right now to get a glimpse of 3 new palettes they will be releasing soon (hopefully).  They have sneak peeks at the new Feminine, Dangerous, and Fun palettes.  Now, I need these like I need a hole in my head, but I totally want them.  I’m going to try and be reasonable by going thru my stash to see which of these shades I have, which I have multiples of, which I have and don’t use, etc. and then I’ll make my decision as to which of these palettes I should pick up.  No clue as to how much they’ll cost or when they’ll be available but I’ll post when I hear something.

Budget Beauty Monday – Neutrogena Healthy Skin Compact Makeup SPF 55 Review

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on January 31, 2011

It’s Monday…time for Budget Beauty Monday!!! Let’s face it. After the weekend we usually end up feeling like we ate too much, drank too much, spent too much, and didn’t do enough around the house. So I figure Monday on AnotherBeautyBlog.com should feature budget beauty products that won’t break the bank so you won’t feel bad about wanting to run out and get them.

A few weeks ago, I reviewed the Neutrogena Revitalizing Lip Balm for Budget Beauty Monday. You may recall I mentioned that I picked up the lip balm from Walgreens during a buy one, get one 50% off Neutrogena sale.  The other item I picked up during that sale was the Neutrogena Healthy Skin Compact Makeup SPF 55.  While I don’t usually use drugstore foundation, I was very intrigued by the sheer amount of SPF in this item.  I figured that worse case scenario I could always use this product during the summer when I’m doing yardwork or hanging out by the pool.  Did I really just say “when I’m doing yardwork”???  God it sucks to get old!

From Neutrogena – “Healthy Skin Compact Makeup SPF 55 blends easily to give you a flawless, natural look, while helping to protect your skin from the sun’s damaging rays. Silky, lightweight formula gives you buildable coverage and provides the most powerful level of UVA-UVB protection available in a foundation without feeling heavy or greasy.”

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Compact Makeup SPF 55 comes in 8 shades: Classic Ivory, Natural Ivory, Buff, Nude, Soft Beige, Natural Beige, Fresh Beige, and Warm Beige.  It comes housed in a dual-compact similar to the Physicians Formula compacts with the foundation and mirror in the top compact and the application sponge in the bottom compact.  One black application sponge is included.

When this Healthy Skin Compact was first being spotted, I saw a lot of complaints around the internet by beauty addicts complaining that the shades seemed rather dark.  I have to agree.  I normally wear medium foundations in most lines, but here I went with Buff.  It is the 3rd shade in the line.  Very fair toned beauty addicts may not be able to use this product due to lack of shades.  At the same time, the darkest shade in this line didn’t seem too dark.  A lot of dark toned beauty addicts will thus be in the same boat as fair toned beauties as far as lack of shade choices.

Neutrogena boasts that Healthy Skin Compact Makeup is lightweight, non-greasy product.  I completely agree.  When I applied this product it felt like I had nothing on.  It wasn’t even slightly greasy.

Neutrogena also claims that this is a buildable product.  I don’t know about that one. When I first put Healthy Skin on it appeared to be more of a tinted moisturizer than a foundation.  It was very sheer, but it was slightly buildable.  I swiped this across my face a few times and you could definitely see that it was building, but it just didn’t seem to be built up enough to offer full coverage.  Does that make sense?  Thanks to the lovely winter weather and some nasty winter wind that I was subjected to this weekend, I have a little bit of redness on my cheeks.  Healthy Skin could not completely cover-up the redness, but my Bare Escentuals Foundation and Smashbox Halo Foundation were both able to completely cover the redness without any concealer.  If you have imperfections that you want to hide with your foundation, I don’t think you’ll be able to do that with Healthy Skin.

On the other hand, during the summer my skin always seems to be nicer than during the winter, which I’m sure is the case for most people.  I’m far less likely to have to worry about covering up redness due to wind during the summer so Healthy Skin may fare better for me during the warmer months.  I guess we’ll have to try it out when winter finally leaves.  And on the same note, if you’re like me and think that you would be more likely to use this product during the summer months, the darkness of the shades may not be as big of an issue.  I personally change the shades of my foundation during the summer to compliment my tan, especially since I try to keep my face out of the sun.  White face with a tan body is not the prettiest picture!

The worse part about Neutrogena Healthy Skin is that it settles into fine lines and pores.  I am very blessed and thank God everyday that I do not have large pores.  Unfortunately, my Mom does.  When I saw that this product was settling into the lines on my hands when I was doing the swatches for this post I had her put Healthy Skin on to see the effect on her pores.  It was not pretty.  It was as if a magnifying glass was on her pores.  The product settled into and drew a bunch of attention to her pores.  If you have larger pores, I wouldn’t recommend this product.  Using a face primer underneath helped, but it wasn’t a complete fix.

Overall, I was underwhelmed by the Neutrogena Healthy Skin Compact Makeup SPF 55.  The coverage was minimal and it sunk into fine lines and pores.  The only saving grace here is the SPF 55.  For that reason alone I will hold onto this product and use it on those summer days when I wouldn’t normally use make-up.

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Compact Makeup SPF 55 is priced at $12.99 – $14.99 (depending on where you’re shopping).

I’m sure you’re tired of hearing this, but again, sorry about the poor quality in the swatch pictures.  They were taken on my iPhone both outside and inside.  Chicago has been pretty dreary lately with no sunshine.  The good news is that I finally got my new computer!  The bad news is that I am now waiting for my photo software to be delivered.  Hopefully it will be here soon.

Have you tried the Neutrogena Healthy Skin Compact Makeup SPF 55?  Love it?  Hate it?  Let us know!

Where Are You Wet N Wild 8 Pan Palettes???

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on January 31, 2011

I’m finally on my computer today!  Are you in one of the 29 states that is supposed to be hit by the monster storm?  Meteorologists in Chicago are predicting the Apocalypse.  We’re supposed to start getting snow this evening and then get hit with a monster storm that may leave a couple of feet of snow tomorrow and Wednesday.  So since the end of the world is coming, I spent most of this morning running around getting must-have supplies.  That included food shopping at Jewel and a stop at Walgreens to see if they finally have the Wet N Wild 8 Pan Palettes.  Nope, they didn’t.

All of the Walgreens around me have completed their beauty section remodels and have the new Wet N Wild permanent fixtures up.  There is even a glorious spot for the 8 Pan Palettes on the wall, but sadly, no palettes yet.  The Walgreens employees had no idea when they would be getting the palettes in so I guess I’ll just have to keep popping in to check.

Have you found the Wet N Wild 8 Pan Palettes at your Walgreens yet?
