Holy @#$! Beauty Clearance At JCPenney

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on February 15, 2011

***Update ***  Some have asked which fragrances of Korres I found.  They had large duos of body butter and shower gel in Basil Lemon and Jasmine.  There was also a Korres kit that had 5 fragrances of body butter and 5 matching shower gels in Basil Lemon, Jasmine, Guava, Fig, and Japanese Rose.  I believe the individual body butter in the Happy Holidays box was Japanese Rose, but it’s not in front of me at the moment so I can’t say for sure.  Hope this helps!

I have mentioned the unbelievable deals that I have been finding at my local JCPenney since the end of the holiday season. If you’ve missed them, my local JCP doesn’t have a permanent Sephora inside of it. During the holiday season, a small Sephora section popped up with some of the must have holiday kits that Sephora sells from Bare Escentuals, Korres, Stila, Tokidoki, Sephora, Kat Von D, and more. After Christmas, the items that they had left began to be marked down. A few weeks ago, I posted that the items that they had left were marked down to half off. I really didn’t think they would go lower than that. Let me just tell you, they went lower. They went unbelievably lower. They went holy @#$! lower!

I let out a noticable gasp when I saw that Korres kits that were $29 and $35 originally were marked $2.97!!!  An individual Korres Body Butter in a Happy Holidays box was $0.47!!!  The Tokidoki Robbery Palette that was $49 was marked $2.97!!!  The Bare Escentuals Shimmer & Shine kit that was $54 was marked $2.97!!!  I grabbed one of those black mesh shopping totes and started throwing stuff in as fast as I could!  The BE Shimmer & Shine kit had to have been a customer return because I haven’t seen one of these at this JCP since around Christmas.  Everything was still sealed.

I’m almost embarrassed to admit how much I bought.  Let me preface that by saying that my Mom works at a department store and my sister is a waitress.  They both like to give a little something to all of their co-workers for birthdays and Christmas and whatnot.  So 90% of what I picked up will be used for gifts.  I will also donate some items to a women’s domestic violence center.  With that being said, I picked up about 50 items that should have totaled $844.  My total was…drumroll, please…$69.12!!!  I wouldn’t have been able to pick up 2 of the larger Korres gift sets for that price!  Oh, I didn’t even clear the shelf.  There were still a bunch of products left.

I’ve said it a bunch of times before, but now you really have to listen to me, if your JCPenney doesn’t have a permanent Sephora in it but had a pop-up section during the holidays, run to it right now and see if they have any items left.

Bare Minerals High Shine Longwear Eyecolor Duo Meteorite / Gold Medal Review And Swatches

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on February 8, 2011

About a week and a half or so, Bare Escentuals was on QVC with 2 shows offering only special event items.  I decided to pick up the High Shine Longwear Eyecolor Duo in Meteorite and Gold Medal.  I have most of the High Shine eye colors from Bare Escentuals (I think I’m missing one) and I love them.  So picking up these 2 at $21 and change was a no-brainer.

High Shine Meteorite And Gold Medal In The Sun

High Shine Meteorite And Gold Medal Out Of The Sun

Bare Minerals describes Meteorite as an iced mocha shade and Gold Medal as a pale gold shade.  Both descriptions are pretty accurate.  If I had to add my own description I would say that Meteorite has a rose gold feel to it.  I love both of these shades.  They are neutral enough to wear everyday, but the high shine ability makes them great for evening wear too.

As I’ve said before when talking about BE High Shine shadows, the look of these shadows is similar to the results you get when foiling the normal Bare Escentuals shadows.  Of course here you don’t have to worry about wetting your brush and all of that.  If you’re a fan of metallic finishes in your eye shadows, I think you would be interested in these.

I have not had a problem with creasing with the High Shine shadows, but they do start to fade around 6 hours of wear.  I would rather deal with even fading as opposed to creasing.  I should note that this is without a primer, so if you used a primer I would think they would last even longer.

High Shine Gold Medal (Top) And Meteorite (Bottom) Swatches In The Sun

High Shine Gold Medal (Top) And Meteorite (Bottom) Swatches Out Of The Sun

I know that a lot of people have complained about the High Shine shadows with regards to their packaging.  A lot of people are not loving the spring-loaded tubes.  Personally, I don’t have a problem with them, but I do use them with a plan of attack.

First, remember these are spring-loaded.  I think that most obsessed make-up users are so used to using and putting on make-up that they move at a fast pace.  Don’t open and pull the top off of the tube of the High Shines that fast!  I unscrew the top and wait until I hear the spring-loaded applicator pop.  Then I slowly start to pull the applicator from the tube while kind of swirling applicator in the tube.  These seems to shake off the extra product into the tube so that it doesn’t get all over the place and get wasted.

Second, you don’t have to use the sponge tip applicator to apply the High Shine shadows.  There are many ways to apply the shadows.  You can use the sponge tip applicator and tap the color on your lid and then use a regular shadow brush to spread it out.  Or you can use a regular shadow brush to swipe the shadow off of the sponge tip applicator and then apply it on your eyes.  You can even use your fingers to rub it off of the sponge tip applicator and then onto your eyes.  I’m sure there are many other ways to apply the High Shine shadows that I haven’t even thought of.  If you have any, feel free to leave a comment.

Third, if you still really hate the packaging, you can always dump the shadow out into a regular BE container.

So here’s the bad news.  The BE High Shine Longwear Eyecolor Duo in Meteorite and Gold Medal sold out on QVC.  But, these shades will be back.  Leslie said that these shades will be available in the Bare Escentuals boutiques soon.  This was just a sneak peek.  So if you want to pick up these shades, you’ll have to wait a little longer.

Did you pick up the Bare Escentuals High Shine Longwear Eyecolor Duo in Meteorite and Gold Medal?  Do you have any of the BE High Shine Eyecolors?  Love them?  Hate them?

Bare Escentuals Buxom Lips Lisa And Leslie Couture Lip Duo Review

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on January 6, 2011

As much of a Bare Escentuals and Buxom Lipgloss addict as I am, I never ordered the original Lisa and Leslie Buxom Lipglosses.  I had always heard a ton of raves about them, but at the time I just didn’t need more Buxom glosses in the light pink shades.  But recently I had been scrapping the bottom of my light and medium pink Buxom gloss tubes and figured it was time to re-stock.  It seems like most of the Buxom sets that I had picked up in the past year had darker colors so my lighter shade supply had really dwindled.  When I saw the new Buxom Lips Lisa And Leslie Couture Lip Duo I decided to take the plunge. I am so glad I did.  After playing around with them for a few weeks I finally have a review for you all complete with swatches!

The Buxom Lips Lisa And Leslie Couture Lip Duo features 2 full-sized Buxom lipglosses in Lisa Couture (a soft pink nude shimmer)  and Leslie Couture (a dreamy mauve glisten).  The glosses are named after BFFs Leslie Blodgett (CEO of Bare Minerals) and Lisa Robertson (QVC host).  What makes these couture is the fact that they are packed with shimmer, thus amping them up to couture status.

I absolutely love both the Lisa and Leslie shades.  Both are sheer, with a hint of color.  Applied to lips they give your lips the “your lips but better” look.  Given this, these shades should work with just about any skintone.

Leslie and Lisa In The Sun (Yikes! The zoom on the camera makes my hands look so old!)

Leslie and Lisa With The Camera Flash

Now, I have to be honest, if you look at the swatches on my hands, you can see the difference and color between Lisa and Leslie.  Leslie is darker while Lisa is lighter.  But when you apply these to your lips, there isn’t much of a difference in color.  There is a slight difference, but I don’t think anyone would notice if you wore Lisa and then 15 minutes later changed to Leslie, you know what I mean?  Some people might be put off by that if they are looking to have dramatically different shades of glosses in their collection.  Personally, I am definitely a fan of the lighter pink glosses and use them pretty much everyday so having 2 similar shades is a good thing.  Oh, and if you’re a big fan of Buxom, Leslie seems pretty similar to Gabby if you ask me, although Gabby is slightly darker.

Everything about the Lisa and Leslie Buxom glosses is the same as every other Buxom gloss.  They wear decently (about 4 hours or so while eating and drinking) and they have the Buxom tingle.

Overall, I absolutely love the Lisa and Leslie Couture Lip Duo.  The colors are great and make my lips absolutely gorgeous.  They are packed full of sparkle and shine while still coming off as elegant and adult like…no teeny-bopper glitter look here.  I would highly recommend these to anyone.

Bare Escentuals Buxom Lips Lisa And Leslie Couture Lip Duo is a limited edition set that is Customer Top Rated on QVC.  It’s priced at $26 with a retail value of $36.

Did you pick up the Buxom Lips Lisa And Leslie Couture Lip Duo during Bare Minerals visit to QVC in December?  What do you think?

Clearance Sale At Ulta

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on December 28, 2010

Every year around this time, Ulta has a big in-store clearance.  There are savings of up to 80% (or so the big sign in the window claims).  Usually, these are pretty lack-luster in the sense that most of the items that they are clearancing out are brands that are lower than drugstore brands.  Of course, sometimes there are a few hidden treasures to be found.

I didn’t plan on hitting Ulta this past weekend, but made an unexpected run to Yankee Candle for their Semi-Annual Sale and Ulta just happens to be next door so I popped in.  Most of the clearance items in the front of Ulta were those God awful giant holiday make-up palettes that I wouldn’t even use on one of those Barbie Make Me Pretty heads that all of us growing up in the 1980s had.  But stashed away in the back of the store I found a few Bare Minerals Dynamic Duo sets.

The Dynamic Duo features 2 Bare Escentuals eyecolors in Take Me (a pale pink glimmer) and Wonder (a pale violet purple glimpse).  Even better, both are the larger .02 oz. size.  These are perfect for the upcoming Spring season, although I could wear purple and pink eye shadows any time of the year.

The BE Dynamic Duo is on sale for only $6.99.  An absolute steal for 2 full-sized Bare Escentuals eye shadows.  I love this…the sale tag on the front of the box states “Was $20,” but if you look at the original sales tag on the side of the box it says $15.  So who knows what the original price really was.  Not that I even care.  Like I said, all I needed to see was the $6.99 current price tag and I was sold.

Wonder (Wet, Dry) Take Me (Wet, Dry)

I posted the direct link to the Dynamic Duo page on Ulta.com.  The bad thing is, it’s sold out online.  I hate that Ulta doesn’t put “Sold Out” or “Out Of Stock” directly on the product page.  It doesn’t tell you that an item is sold out until you try to put it in your cart.  I just added the link so that you can see a better picture of the Dynamic Duo.

Since this is a clearance item, I’m sure that stock is extremely limited.  I also saw some Stila sets that came in cans a la Barbie Loves Stila.  They were $19.99.  I can’t remember what was in the sets (never take you Sweetie with you make-up shopping).  Given the multitude of Stila deals lately, I was not in any need of any Stila so I didn’t spend a lot of time looking at them.

Have you been to the Ulta Clearance Sale?  Find anything good?  Let us know!

Bare Escentuals On Sale At Nordstrom

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on December 26, 2010

Select Bare Escentuals products are also on sale at Nordstrom.com. Most of the items that are on sale are also on sale at other places (Bare Escentuals, Sephora, etc.), but if you have a Nordstrom near you, you may be able to pick up your items at the store and save on shipping.

One item caught my eye on the Norstrom website.   The Bare Escentuals® bareMinerals® ‘Kaleidoscope’ 20-Piece Eye Collection is on sale for $70 down from $89 (a savings of 20%).  The Kaleidoscope collection features 20 eye shadows in 4 different finishes:  Wildcat (Frost); Alley Cat, A Bucc-an-Ear, Tiramisu (Sheen); Sun, Maraschino, Adventure, Iced, Smoke (Matte); Starfish (SPF 20), Cha-Cha, Blue Moon, Kir Royale, Sand Dollar (SPF 12), Disco, Grasshopper (Glimmer); and Blueberry, Grape, Jade, Suspense (Liner).  If you bought these 20 colors separately you would spend $220 so obviously the $70 price tag is quite a deal.  Great kit for newer Bare Minerals fans who are looking to build up their collection.  Happy Shopping!

Bare Escentuals After-Christmas Sale

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on December 26, 2010

BareEscentuals.com has added a bunch of new products to their Specials Section. Although the savings aren’t as substantial as some of the Bare Minerals deals we’ve seen in the past few weeks, there are some great products that we have not seen on sale before. Beyond Gorgeous is marked down to $39 from $54.  If you missed it, I reviewed the Beyond Gorgeous kit here.  It’s a great kit to have.

If you spend at least $50, use coupon / promo code TREATS to get a free deluxe samples with your order.

The fine print in the email I received about this sale states that these items should also be on sale at Bare Escentuals Boutiques and Bare Escentuals Outlets.  I’m assuming that the newer kits would be available at the Boutiques and the older kits and items would be available at the Outlets.  The email also says “While Supplies Last” so I’m assuming there is no end date for this sale.  Happy Shopping!

Did you order anything from BareEscentuals.com?  What did you get?

50% Off Bare Escentuals, Stila, And More At JCPenney-Sephora

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on December 23, 2010

Hey beauty addicts!  Sorry about the lack of posts this week.  Has Christmas snuck up on everyone, or is it just me?  Seriously, I thought I was ahead of the game this year, and then the final week comes and I feel like I have a ton to do.  But anyways, this was such huge news I had to post about it ASAP.  If you have a JC Penney near you, run to it right now!  I was just at my JCP and all of their Bare Ecentuals products and a few of their Stila kits were half off.  Yes!  50% off!  Can you believe it?

My Penney’s doesn’t have a Sephora in it year round.  It just has a Sephora section during the holiday season.  So, that being said, I don’t know if it’s just the Penney’s that have pop-up Sephora sections in them that have this big sale or if the Penney’s that have a Sephora store year round has the sale as well.

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the sale tags on the products.  Are you ready?  Bare Minerals Shimmer & Shine kit, Bare Escentuals All Wrapped Up kit, Bare Escentuals Buxom Rock Stars kit…all half off!  The Shimmer & Shine kit was $26.99, the All Wrapped Up kit was $16.99, and the Buxom Rock Stars kit was $13.99!!!

As for Stila, the Stila Girl Travel Palettes were half off at $4.99!  How great is that?  The only problem at my store was that all of the Travel Palettes that they had left had been opened up and used by shoppers.

If you’re a fan of Korres products, all of the Korres kits were 35% – 45% off.  I picked up a few kits to break up for gifts during the rest of the year.

Some of the items that were on sale, like the Korres products, had a normal sale sign above them that listed the percentage off and the price the item will be.  But the Bare Escentuals and Stila products just had a little pink price tag on them that had the sale price listed.  So don’t be discouraged if you don’t see a sale sign, just look at the products themselves.

If you’re interested in picking up any of these products, I wouldn’t wait.  There were only 4 Shimmer & Shine kits left when I got to JCP at about 8:30 this morning.  As the word gets out about these sale prices, I suspect things will sell out quickly.

Oh, and don’t forget that you get Beauty Insider points for purchases at JCP Sephoras too.  Happy Shopping!

Bare Escentuals Gold Mineral Veil Duo Deal

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on December 15, 2010

There is a lot going on at Sephora this morning!  The Bare Escentuals Gold Mineral Veil Duo is one of the items that has recently had its price reduced (down to $24 from $29.50).  There’s also another little deal to go along with the sale price.  Use coupon / promo code BEGOLD to receive a free full-sized Bare Escentuals Eye Color Glimmer in Trophy Wife when you purchase the BE Gold Duo.  Not a bad freebie considering Bare Minerals eye shadows are priced at $13 each.  This deal is good while supplies last.
