Benefit Stay Put Set Back In Stock!!!

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on February 9, 2011

Were you able to get your hands on the Benefit Stay Put Set this past fall?  Seriously, it sold out in a blink of an eye once the Sephora Friends & Family Sale started.  That’s not surprising considering the Stay Put Set features almost full sized Erase Paste and Creaseless Cream Eyeshadow and a decent deluxe sample size of Stay Don’t Stray for only $10.  It is an absolute steal.  I know a lot of Benefit girls were upset that they had the Stay Put Set in their cart but it sold out before they could purchase it.  If that was you, I have fantabulous news. The Benefit Stay Put Set is back in stock!!!  It still states that this is a limited edition item so who knows how many they have or how long they will last.  I just ordered another set since I am a fan of the Erase Paste and you can’t beat this price.

If you haven’t tried the Erase Paste or the Creaseless Cream Eyeshadow, this is an excellent kit to pick up to give them a try.  You are not going to find such a value anywhere else.  The RSVP shade of eyeshadow is a gorgeous neutral that should flatter most skintypes.  I reach for it at least once a week.

Did you miss out on the Benefit Stay Put Set this past fall or were you lucky enough to get one?  Love it?  Hate it?

Bare Minerals High Shine Longwear Eyecolor Duo Meteorite / Gold Medal Review And Swatches

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on February 8, 2011

About a week and a half or so, Bare Escentuals was on QVC with 2 shows offering only special event items.  I decided to pick up the High Shine Longwear Eyecolor Duo in Meteorite and Gold Medal.  I have most of the High Shine eye colors from Bare Escentuals (I think I’m missing one) and I love them.  So picking up these 2 at $21 and change was a no-brainer.

High Shine Meteorite And Gold Medal In The Sun

High Shine Meteorite And Gold Medal Out Of The Sun

Bare Minerals describes Meteorite as an iced mocha shade and Gold Medal as a pale gold shade.  Both descriptions are pretty accurate.  If I had to add my own description I would say that Meteorite has a rose gold feel to it.  I love both of these shades.  They are neutral enough to wear everyday, but the high shine ability makes them great for evening wear too.

As I’ve said before when talking about BE High Shine shadows, the look of these shadows is similar to the results you get when foiling the normal Bare Escentuals shadows.  Of course here you don’t have to worry about wetting your brush and all of that.  If you’re a fan of metallic finishes in your eye shadows, I think you would be interested in these.

I have not had a problem with creasing with the High Shine shadows, but they do start to fade around 6 hours of wear.  I would rather deal with even fading as opposed to creasing.  I should note that this is without a primer, so if you used a primer I would think they would last even longer.

High Shine Gold Medal (Top) And Meteorite (Bottom) Swatches In The Sun

I know that a lot of people have complained about the High Shine shadows with regards to their packaging.  A lot of people are not loving the spring-loaded tubes.  Personally, I don’t have a problem with them, but I do use them with a plan of attack.

First, remember these are spring-loaded.  I think that most obsessed make-up users are so used to using and putting on make-up that they move at a fast pace.  Don’t open and pull the top off of the tube of the High Shines that fast!  I unscrew the top and wait until I hear the spring-loaded applicator pop.  Then I slowly start to pull the applicator from the tube while kind of swirling applicator in the tube.  These seems to shake off the extra product into the tube so that it doesn’t get all over the place and get wasted.

Second, you don’t have to use the sponge tip applicator to apply the High Shine shadows.  There are many ways to apply the shadows.  You can use the sponge tip applicator and tap the color on your lid and then use a regular shadow brush to spread it out.  Or you can use a regular shadow brush to swipe the shadow off of the sponge tip applicator and then apply it on your eyes.  You can even use your fingers to rub it off of the sponge tip applicator and then onto your eyes.  I’m sure there are many other ways to apply the High Shine shadows that I haven’t even thought of.  If you have any, feel free to leave a comment.

Third, if you still really hate the packaging, you can always dump the shadow out into a regular BE container.

So here’s the bad news.  The BE High Shine Longwear Eyecolor Duo in Meteorite and Gold Medal sold out on QVC.  But, these shades will be back.  Leslie said that these shades will be available in the Bare Escentuals boutiques soon.  This was just a sneak peek.  So if you want to pick up these shades, you’ll have to wait a little longer.

Did you pick up the Bare Escentuals High Shine Longwear Eyecolor Duo in Meteorite and Gold Medal?  Do you have any of the BE High Shine Eyecolors?  Love them?  Hate them?

Smashbox Create Your Own Kit

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on February 8, 2011

I know one of the common complaints among beauty kit purchasers is the fact that many kits feature at least one item you don’t want or won’t use or have too many of.  Now, I know at lot of us still pick up these kits due to the fact that it’s still a great deal for the items you will use.  I’m happy to see that more cosmetics companies are hopping on the create-your-own kit bandwagon.  You may recall that I took advantage of the Bare Escentuals create-your-own kit during the holiday season to pick up 3 of the High Shine eye shadows for about the cost of 2.  Smashbox is the latest cosmetics company to offer a Create Your Own Kit.

This week only, you can Create Your Own Kit on Smashbox.com.  You start with a gold make-up bag and then select three items to fill it up with.  You can choose any combination of Eye Shadow Trios, Blush Rush blushes, and Lip Enhancing Glosses.  You can pick one of each or 3 shadow trios or 2 blushes and a lip gloss and so on.  Depending on the combo of products you go with, the kit has a value of up to $84.

If you are a fan of particular shades from Smashbox, this is a great opportunity to get exactly what you want at a pretty great discount.

Are you a fan of the create-your-own-kit idea?

Budget Beauty Monday – Wet N Wild 8 Pan Palettes Swatches And Review

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on February 7, 2011

It’s Monday…time for Budget Beauty Monday!!! Let’s face it. After the weekend we usually end up feeling like we ate too much, drank too much, spent too much, and didn’t do enough around the house. So I figure Monday on AnotherBeautyBlog.com should feature budget beauty products that won’t break the bank so you won’t feel bad about wanting to run out and get them.

Can you believe that I haven’t used my car since last Monday?  Ever since the blizzard hit Chicago last week I have not been out.  Let me just tell you, a Mustang in snow and ice slides like a hockey puck in an ice rink.  Today, the streets were finally cleaned up enough that I could venture out into the world and continue my quest for the Wet N Wild 8 Pan Palettes.  I’m happy to report that I finally found them at Walgreens!

There are 3 versions of the new Wet N Wild 8 Pan Palettes.  736 Petal Pusher features a variety of purple and violet shades.  737 Blue Had Me At Hello features a wide range of blue shades including teal, navy, and sky.  738 Comfort Zone features neutral brown shades as well as a green shade.

All of these palettes feature the high quality eye shadows that we have come to expect and love from Wet N Wild.  They are highly pigmented and long-lasting.  They feel extremely creamy when being applied.  None of this is new.  If you loved the Wet N Wild Coloricon Shadow Trios or the Limited Edition Holiday Pixie Palettes or any of the Wet N Wild eye shadows, you will love these too.

Most of the shadows in all of these palettes have either some sort of shimmer or metallic finish to them.  In my opinion, one of the “definer” shadows in the Blue Had Me At Hello palette is the only true matte of the bunch.  I personally prefer the shimmer and metallic shadows so this is good news for me.  But if you are a fan of the 6 pan palettes that featured 3 shimmer shadows and 3 mattes, you will not find that here.

As soon as I saw 736 Petal Pusher, I immediately thought of the 2010 Wet N Wild Limited Edition Holiday Pixie Palette Sugar Plum Fairy.  Although it’s not exactly the same, it’s a great option to pick up if you missed out on the Holiday Palettes.  This is a great palette to pick up for the Spring as it features a number of purples, violets, and plums…some of the hot shades for the upcoming season.

If you’re a fan of color, 737 Blue Had Me At Hello will probably jump out at you.  There is a gorgeous bright teal shade that you will want to play with.  So many people are afraid of blue shadows for fear of looking like they stepped out of a 1980s time machine.  Get over it, people!  Blue can be done in a tasteful way.  It’s more than possible to create an elegant look with this palette due to complimenting shades in this palette.  Just use a light hand if you’re worried about getting carried away!

Of the 3, I think 738 Comfort Zone will probably be the most popular due to the neutrality of the palette.  It features a range of beiges and browns as well as a coppery-red shade, a peachy shade, and an olive green shade.  I had to go to 3 Walgreens to find this palette, so I think that’s an indication of which palette people are picking up.  You’ll definitely be able to use this palette for a demure office day look, but it also has the ability to transform that look into a fun night out look.  At the moment, Comfort Zone is my favorite of the 3 palettes.

If you’re still upset that you missed out on the 2010 Limited Edition Holiday Pixie Palettes, dry your eyes.  These new Wet N Wild 8 Pan Palettes are great substitutes.  And since these are NOT limited edition, you won’t have to worry about fighting with other beauty addicts to get yours!

Just a note, I talked to one of the beauty girls at Walgreens and she said that they had only received 2 of each palette in the initial shipment.  So if you’re having problems finding all of the palettes at one store, just keep checking.  They will be getting more in.  The first 2 Walgreens I went to this morning only had 1 each of the Petal Pusher and Blue Had Me At Hello palettes.  The third Walgreens had 2 of the Blue Had Me At Hello palette and 1 each of the Petal Pusher and Comfort Zone palettes.

The new Wet N Wild 8 Pan Palettes are priced at $4.99 each.  At the moment, they are only available at Walgreens and Wal-mart.  They are NOT limited edition products.  I know there has been some debate as to whether or not they were, but they are NOT.

And now, for my usual disclaimer.  Again, I am so sorry for the iPhone pictures.  My photo software for my new computer is supposed to be delivered this week.  I cannot wait to use a real camera for taking swatch pictures again!

Have you found the new Wet N Wild 8 Pan Palettes yet?  Which is your favorite?

Sneak Peek – New Urban Decay Palettes

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on February 1, 2011

Get your butt over to Urban Decay’s Facebook page right now to get a glimpse of 3 new palettes they will be releasing soon (hopefully).  They have sneak peeks at the new Feminine, Dangerous, and Fun palettes.  Now, I need these like I need a hole in my head, but I totally want them.  I’m going to try and be reasonable by going thru my stash to see which of these shades I have, which I have multiples of, which I have and don’t use, etc. and then I’ll make my decision as to which of these palettes I should pick up.  No clue as to how much they’ll cost or when they’ll be available but I’ll post when I hear something.

Wet N Wild 8 Pan Palettes Have Been Spotted!

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on January 20, 2011

Just thought I would let everyone know that Joanna emailed me this morning to let me know that she found the new Wet N Wild 8 pan palettes at her Wal-mart last night.  So keep an eye out if you’re going to be at Wal-mart.  Unfortunately, my closest Wal-mart doesn’t carry any Wet N Wild products.  I’ve been stopping in at multiple Walgreens every few days but still haven’t found the new 8 pan palettes yet.  One of the Walgreens still doesn’t even have the Wet N Wild Coloricon Trios yet!  I did see the trios at CVS, but that was all they had of the new products.

Have you seen the new Wet N Wild 8 Pan Palettes at a Wal-mart or Walgreens around you?  Let us know!

Changes To The Urban Decay Naked Palette

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on January 19, 2011

As you may have noticed, I’ve been checking Sephora.com a couple of times of week to check on the status of the Urban Decay Naked Palette and posting here when it’s been in stock.  At the end of last week, I noticed something strange.  The Naked Palette was out of stock, but the price had gone up.  When I checked it again a day or two later, the price was still higher and instead of the 24/7 Glide-On Eye Liner Pencil there was a brush in the palette.  I didn’t post about it right away because when I checked out other websites that sell the UD Naked Palette these changes weren’t there.  So I decided to email Urban Decay and Sephora to see what was going on.  Today, Urban Decay sent out an email to all of their email subscribers with info about the new changes to the Naked Palette.

As the email states, Urban Decay couldn’t make the 24/7 pencils fast enough to keep up with the demand for the Naked Palette.  So now, instead of the 24/7 liners they are including a Full-Sized Good Karma Shadow Brush.  They are also upping the price by $4 to $48 due to the fact that the brush normally sells for $26.  The email also states that UrbanDecay.com will be receiving a shipment of the “new” Naked Palettes with the shadow brush soon and will be notifying those who signed up to be notified when the palettes are in stock.  Shortly after Urban Decay receives their shipment, other stores like Sephora and Ulta will be getting shipments of the new palettes too.  So if you’re still waiting to get your hands on the Naked Palette it looks like there will be a few opportunities in the near future.

I’m on the fence about these changes.  On the one hand, I think every beauty addict out there has got a million eye shadow brushes and would prefer to get the 24/7 liners instead of yet another brush.  On the other, I can see why some people would prefer to get the brush and have it in the kit and ready to go.

Personally, I would prefer to get the 24/7 liners instead of the brush.  But I must applaud Urban Decay for recognizing the demand for the Naked Palette and taking the steps necessary to get the palette into the hands of those who want it faster.

What do you think of the changes to the “new” Urban Decay Naked Palette?  Which of the versions would you prefer?  Let us know!

New Urban Decay Products Launch At Sephora

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on January 13, 2011

It looks like the new Urban Decay products are no longer exclusive to UrbanDecay.com.  Most of the new products are up and available for sale.  Some are listed on the site, but are not yet available for purchase.  The much lusted after Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils 15 Year Anniversary Collection.  The Afterglow Glide-On Cheek Tints are also available for purchase.  The 24/7 Glide-On Shadow Pencils are on the site, but not yet available for purchase.  I’m sure they will be available any minute now.

I’m sure it’s a lot more likely that Santa left you a Sephora gift card as opposed to an Urban Decay gift card. So I’m guessing that a lot of people were waiting for these products to drop at Sephora so they could use their gift cards to pick them up.

I’m hoping this means they are available in-store too as I’m really wanting to play around and swatch the Cheek Tints and 24/7 Glide-On Shadow Pencils.  Although, let’s be honest, I don’t really think there’s going to be a shade of shadow that I don’t love!

Have you caved in and picked up 15th Anniversary 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils Collection yet?  How about the Cheek Tints and 24/7 Shadow Pencils?

Budget Beauty Monday – New 2011 Wet N Wild Coloricon Shadow Trios Review And Swatches

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on January 10, 2011

It’s Monday…time for Budget Beauty Monday!!! Let’s face it. After the weekend we usually end up feeling like we ate too much, drank too much, spent too much, and didn’t do enough around the house. So I figure Monday on AnotherBeautyBlog.com should feature budget beauty products that won’t break the bank so you won’t feel bad about wanting to run out and get them.

Let me just tell you, I’m so excited about this post.  Last week, I posted a teaser post with the display of the new 2011 Wet N Wild Coloricon Shadow Trios.  In that post I also said that I walked out of the store empty-handed because I knew Walgreens was having a 50% off sale on Wet N Wild cosmetics that started Sunday, January 9th.  Obviously picking up the entire collection at half off was the practical thing to do.  I am so happy to report that my local Walgreens did in fact have the new 2011 Wet N Wild Collection in stock Sunday morning.  I picked up one of everything they had!  They didn’t have the 8 pan palettes yet and they were out of the mascara.  Everyone seems to be most excited about new Coloricon Eyeshadow Trios so I thought we should start with them.

New for 2011, Wet N Wild has introduced 6 new Coloricon Shadow Trios.  They include I Dream Of Greenie 331, I’m Feeling Retro 332, I Got Good Jeans 333, I’m getting Sunburned 334, Silent Treatment 335, and Spoiled Brat 336.  WNW has really covered a wide range of the color spectrum here.  There are fun, bright, and bold shades as well as neutral and safe shades.

The display states: “New, dynamic shades with 30% more pigment and pearl for ultra-impact color.”  Apparently, the new shadows feature a new and improved formula to make them even more pigmented and velvet-y than last years shadows.  That’s pretty amazing considering that last year’s shadows were pretty pigmented to begin with.

I Dream Of Greenie 331 & I'm Feeling Retro 332

I Got Good Jeans 333 & I'm Getting Sunburned 334

Silent Treatment 335 & Spoiled Brat 336

Like previous Wet N Wild Shadow Trios, each of these trios feature 3 complimentary shades of eye shadow.  Each is meant for either the browbone, crease, or eyelid.  Each pan of shadow is embossed with either “browbone,” “crease,” or “eyelid” making it easy to create a fantastic look for even the beauty novice.  Of course, it’s fun to ignore the suggestions and mix-and-match the shadows to create your own fun look.

I Dream Of Greenie 331 is a trio of vibrant greens.  The light green browbone color has a frosty shimmer effect while the crease and eyelid shades are bolder shades both with fine flecks of gold in them.

I Dream Of Greenie 331

I’m Feeling Retro 332 has the perfect name, in my opinion.  It features frosty white shimmer browbone shade, an iridescent-esque teal-blue crease shade, and an iridescent-esque shimmery pink/purple  eyelide shade.  I think I’m Feeling Retro is the perfect name for this trio because it makes me think back to the colors of the Wet N Wild Cosmetics of the 80s.  Of course, the make-up for Wet N Wild is a million times better now, but weren’t the colors of the 80s a lot of fun?

I'm Feeling Retro 332

I Got Good Jeans 333 features a metallic icy blue or gray (depending on the light you’re looking at it in) browbone shade, a shimmery navy blue crease color, and a semi-metallic shimmery gold shade.  I love the metallic finishes in this palette.  If you are a fan of the Stila Travel Girl Palettes, I Got Good Jeans is very similar to Adventurous In Aspen.  I loved Adventurous In Aspen, but I love I Got Good Jeans even more.   The Wet N Wild shadows are much more creamier than the Stila Travel Palettes shadows.

I Got Good Jeans 333

I’m Getting Sunburned 334 is one of the more low-key color trios of the bunch, but it’s definitely not boring.  It features a gorgeous pale pink shimmer browbone shade,  a semi-matte chocolate brown with subtle bronze sparkle crease color, and metallic copper/bronze shimmer lid shade.  I call the crease color a semi-matte because it has the slight appearance of a matte, but it is also infused with a little bit of sparkle so it’s not a full-on matte.  If you’re a fan of Clinique, for some reason this trio makes me think of Strawberry Fudge.  It’s been awhile since I used Strawberry Fudge so the colors may not be that close.  But I always loved the combo of pink and brown in the Strawberry Fudge duo and I’m Getting Sunburned is an amped up version of that.

I'm Getting Sunburned 334

Silent Treatment 335 is the other low-key trio of the bunch, but again, so not boring!  It features a shimmery light peach browbone shade, a semi-matte brown with sparkle crease color (similar to the crease color in I’m Getting Sunburned), and a shimmer taupe eyelid shade.  When the light catches these shades, oh my God, G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S!!!  There is no doubt in my mind that I will be reaching for this palette over and over again.  You’ll be able to wear this palette to work and keep on wearing it for a night out on the town.

Silent Treatment 335

Spoiled Brat 336 features a metallic silver browbone shade, a semi-matte black with subtle silver sparkle crease color, and a fuchsia eyelid shade.  I love the metallic silver shade in this palette.  I will be stealing it from this palette to use with others.  The fuchsia eyeslide shadow is one of the most true to fuchsia color I have ever seen.  It is a bold shade and will definitely get you noticed when you wear it.

Spoiled Brat

Overall, I am beyond in love with the new Wet N Wild Coloricon Eyeshadow Trios.  All of the shadows themselves apply like a dream; velvety in texture, no chalkiness, buildable, and blendable.  Every color is absolutely gorgeous.  The pictures of the swatches really do not do them justice.  I love that the wide range of colors provides something for everyone.

I described just about every shade as having shimmer or glitter or being metallic.  Don’t worry, these are sophisticated instances of shimmer, glitter, and metallic.  No big chunky flakes of glitter that will cause a ton of fall-out here.

There may be one downside to these palettes for some.  I know a lot of people loved the Coloricon Palettes from last year because they featured 3 shimmery shades and 3 matte shades.  These palettes are all about the shimmer and not the matte.  If you were a matte fan, I’m sorry but you won’t find that here.

At $2.99 these are an absolute steal.  With Walgreens’ half off sale these are an absolute must have.  Seriously, $1.49 for each palette?  You NEED to pick up all six, especially at that price.  And let me just tell you, if you’re more of neutrals girl and are scared of the bolder shades, put that thought aside and get all six palettes.  At $1.49, allow yourself the opportunity to try something new and play with some color.  And the same goes to you color loving girls who usually poo-poo on neutral palettes.  Pick up these neutral palettes!

Oh, and while we’re on the subject of going out to buy these items.  My Walgreens had these displayed the same way they had their holiday collection displayed, on the side of an endcap.  The only thing is this time they were over by the skin care department and not directly across from the permanent Wet N Wild section.  Walgreens seems to be flooded with a lot of new products from a lot of brands.  The special displays seem to be spread out over more of the store as a result.  I actually missed the Wet N Wild display at first.  Other stores had the on the counter display as well.  So keep an eye out for both.

Did you hit up your Walgreens for the Wet N Wild Cosmetics 50% off sale?  Did they have the new  2011 items out yet?  What did you haul?  What are you lusting for?
