Tarte 8th World Wonder Best Of The Amazon 6 Piece Clay Collection TSV

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on February 15, 2011

I can’t believe we’re already more than half way through February.  We’re so close to March that QVC is already making some of their upcoming March Today’s Special Values available for pre-order.  One of those has really caught my eye.

The Tarte 8th World Wonder Best Of The Amazon 6 Piece Clay Collection feature 6 must have cosmetics products and one cosmetics brush housed in a cosmetics bag for the fantastic price of $48.36.  Products featured include a Lights, Camera, Lashes Volumuizing Mascara in black;, an Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Wear Powder Blush in Glisten (peachy/pink), an AC Long-Wear Eye Shadow Quad in dark brown, shimmering bronze, light sand & shimmering plum, an AC Automatic Waterproof Gel Liner in Golden Plum; a Pure Optic-Moisturizing Lip Gloss in Golden Pink, an AC Balancing Foundation SPF 15 w/brush in choice of Fair, Light, Med., Tan or Deep, and a purple faux leather cosmetic bag.

I passed on the last Tarte TSV and have regretted everyday since then.  There was no way I was passing on this upcoming TSV.  I have already placed my auto-delivery order.  I already picked up a Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Wear Powder Blush (review coming soon!) that I am totally in love with.  This is the perfect way to build up that collection since each order will feature a different blush shade.  If you’re eyeing Glisten blush in this TSV know that it looks like it is going to be a QVC exclusive for at least the time being seeing as it’s not available at Sephora.  And if you’ve been following this blog you know that Lights, Camera, Lashes is my absolute favorite mascara so it won’t hurt to get a new tube with each order.

The TSV price is $48.36 with 3 Easy Pays of $16.12.  Amazing price considering just the blush and mascara would cost you $44.  The regular QVC price will be $58.  Although the date of the Tarte Today’s Special Value on QVC isn’t until March 14th, the TSV is already available for pre-order.  Just know that usually when you pre-order a QVC TSV it doesn’t usually ship until the TSV date.  Sometimes we get lucky and they ship them out sooner, but don’t expect it.

Are you loving this Tarte Today’s Special Value 8th World Wonder Best Of The Amazon 6 Piece Clay Collection?  Will you be picking it up?

Bare Minerals High Shine Longwear Eyecolor Duo Meteorite / Gold Medal Review And Swatches

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on February 8, 2011

About a week and a half or so, Bare Escentuals was on QVC with 2 shows offering only special event items.  I decided to pick up the High Shine Longwear Eyecolor Duo in Meteorite and Gold Medal.  I have most of the High Shine eye colors from Bare Escentuals (I think I’m missing one) and I love them.  So picking up these 2 at $21 and change was a no-brainer.

High Shine Meteorite And Gold Medal In The Sun

High Shine Meteorite And Gold Medal Out Of The Sun

Bare Minerals describes Meteorite as an iced mocha shade and Gold Medal as a pale gold shade.  Both descriptions are pretty accurate.  If I had to add my own description I would say that Meteorite has a rose gold feel to it.  I love both of these shades.  They are neutral enough to wear everyday, but the high shine ability makes them great for evening wear too.

As I’ve said before when talking about BE High Shine shadows, the look of these shadows is similar to the results you get when foiling the normal Bare Escentuals shadows.  Of course here you don’t have to worry about wetting your brush and all of that.  If you’re a fan of metallic finishes in your eye shadows, I think you would be interested in these.

I have not had a problem with creasing with the High Shine shadows, but they do start to fade around 6 hours of wear.  I would rather deal with even fading as opposed to creasing.  I should note that this is without a primer, so if you used a primer I would think they would last even longer.

High Shine Gold Medal (Top) And Meteorite (Bottom) Swatches In The Sun

High Shine Gold Medal (Top) And Meteorite (Bottom) Swatches Out Of The Sun

I know that a lot of people have complained about the High Shine shadows with regards to their packaging.  A lot of people are not loving the spring-loaded tubes.  Personally, I don’t have a problem with them, but I do use them with a plan of attack.

First, remember these are spring-loaded.  I think that most obsessed make-up users are so used to using and putting on make-up that they move at a fast pace.  Don’t open and pull the top off of the tube of the High Shines that fast!  I unscrew the top and wait until I hear the spring-loaded applicator pop.  Then I slowly start to pull the applicator from the tube while kind of swirling applicator in the tube.  These seems to shake off the extra product into the tube so that it doesn’t get all over the place and get wasted.

Second, you don’t have to use the sponge tip applicator to apply the High Shine shadows.  There are many ways to apply the shadows.  You can use the sponge tip applicator and tap the color on your lid and then use a regular shadow brush to spread it out.  Or you can use a regular shadow brush to swipe the shadow off of the sponge tip applicator and then apply it on your eyes.  You can even use your fingers to rub it off of the sponge tip applicator and then onto your eyes.  I’m sure there are many other ways to apply the High Shine shadows that I haven’t even thought of.  If you have any, feel free to leave a comment.

Third, if you still really hate the packaging, you can always dump the shadow out into a regular BE container.

So here’s the bad news.  The BE High Shine Longwear Eyecolor Duo in Meteorite and Gold Medal sold out on QVC.  But, these shades will be back.  Leslie said that these shades will be available in the Bare Escentuals boutiques soon.  This was just a sneak peek.  So if you want to pick up these shades, you’ll have to wait a little longer.

Did you pick up the Bare Escentuals High Shine Longwear Eyecolor Duo in Meteorite and Gold Medal?  Do you have any of the BE High Shine Eyecolors?  Love them?  Hate them?

Half Way Thru The Beautiful You, Try Something New

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on January 21, 2011

We’re about half way thru The Beautiful You, Try Something New QVC event.  Have you done a lot of damage?  I’ve picked up the Mally 6-Piece Bulletproof Beauty Starter Kit, the Tarte Waterproof Amazonian Clay Calming Concealer, the Tarte Achiote Cheek Tint Lip Luster Duo, and the Tarte High Shine Lip Luster Duo with Lipsurgence Technology.  There are a few other items that I’m on the fence about.

I’m really excited about the Mally kit.  I’ve only tried a few of Mally’s products, but my Mom loves Mally and uses her stuff all of the time.  This 6-piece kit was a steal at $27.24 since you are getting a bunch of full-sized products.  You get the volumizing mascara in Black, the Evercolor Automatic waterproof liner in Onyx (black), an eye shadow compact with cream-to-powder shadow base and eye shadow in Shimmering Taupe, a High Shine liquid mini lipstick in Blossom (shimmering pink), the Cancellation concealer system with cream concealer and Eyelight setting powder (your choice of shade) and a double-ended concealer brush.  The looks that Mally created on the models using this kit were really nice.  I’ve never tried her eye shadow base so I’m definitely excited to give that a go.  Her mascara was also the QVC Customer Choice award winner for best mascara last year.

How exciting is Tarte lately?  They keep releasing more and more amazing new products.  I saw Maureen Kelly demonstration of their new Waterproof Amazonian Clay Calming Concealer this morning and knew immediately that I had to pick this up.  It looked so natural on the models and it covered any flaws that they had.  Maureen promises that this concealer will not settle into fine lines around the eyes or have that cakey build up that some concealers leave you with.  This was an advance order item that won’t be shipped out until the middle of February.  I will post my review complete with swatches then.

Last week when I was browsing and came across the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush, I also saw the new Tarte High Shine Lip Lusters.  I didn’t post about them right away because I had a feeling that they would be making an appearance on QVC today.  I was right!  And even better, they are available at an amazing price.  The Tarte High Shine Lip Luster Duos feature 2 of the new Lip Lusters for only $29.50!  Just one of these Lip Lusters is normally $24!  Even better is that all 6 shades are available.  Don’t you hate it when companies put together duos that consist of either colors that no one wants to buy so they try to push them out with great pricing or pair up one great shade with one crappy shade?  Here you get your choice of 3 duos:  Buff & Fever (Nude/Red), Adored & Glisten (Light Pink/Peach), and Frisky & Pouty (Bright Pink/Berry).  I picked up the Frisky & Pouty Duo.  Of course I will post a full review and swatches once they are delivered.  Oh!  And these duos are on buy more, save more.  So for each duo you pick up after your first one, you’ll get $4 off.

Even though I picked up the Lip Luster Duo, I couldn’t resist getting even more.  The presentation on the Tarte Achiote Cheek Tint Lip Luster Duo completely pulled me in.  Here you get a Lip Luster and a cute cheek tint, but it’s not the push-up tubes that we’re used to with Tarte’s cheek stains, it’s a compact.  The colors of both of these items looked so amazingly natural.  And then throw in free shipping and I was completely sold.  Here’s the thing, I think they may have screwed up with the graphics for this item because I don’t think it was supposed to have free shipping.  When I tried to order it online, a shipping charge kept popping up.  When I called the order in, the shipping charge was popping up.  I told them that I’m watching the presentation right now and it says free shipping right there on the screen.  They were extremely helpful and waved the shipping charge for me.  This kit was $28.93.  Again, steal considering the Lip Luster alone would be $24.  And, as usualy, I will post a full review and swatches when I get this order.

So that’s what I’ve picked up so far.  Have you done any damage?  Let us know!

The Beautiful You, Try Something New

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on January 20, 2011

Just a reminder that tomorrow is QVC’s day of beauty. If you’re in a part of the country that is expecting a lot of snow you’ll be able to hunker down and watch 24 hours of beauty.  I’m really hoping that there will be some great deals available.  I am really interested in seeing Tarte’s presentation of their new Amazonian Clay mascara.  WEN, Tarte, Philosophy, and Josie Maran all have at least 1 one hour show.  Happy shopping!

Tarte Amazonian Clay Infused Volumizing Mascara Duo

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on January 17, 2011

This coming Friday, January 21st, QVC is having a 24 hour beauty extravaganza. is offering a sneak peek at some items and is offering special prices on advance orders for others.  There are also a bunch of new items launching.  One that really caught my eye is the Tarte Amazonian Clay Infused Volumizing Mascara Duo.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Infused Volumizing Mascara is infused with Amazonian clay, the ingredient that Tarte is turning to for all of its latest releases.  If you have been following Tarte, you know that they claim that the Amazonian clay restores hydration and texture in your skin.  With this new mascara, they promise that, just like with your skin, the clay will moisturize, replenish, strengthen, and thicken your lashes.

Everyone knows that my go-to mascara is Tarte’s Lights, Camera, Lashes.  It makes my lashes look so full and thick and has such an intense black color without any smudging or fallout.  Given my love for LCL, I am curious about htis new Amazonian Clay Infused Volumizing Mascara.  The only problem is that I just ordered 2 LCL mascaras a few weeks ago.  I’m a little hesitant to order 2 more mascaras right away.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Infused Volumizing Mascara Duo is one of the items that is available for a special advanced order price. If you order today, January 17th, the price is only $23.14.  The QVC price will be $28 with a retail value of $38.  Tarte cosmetics will be on multiple times throughout the “The Beautiful You, Try Something New” QVC 24-hour beauty event this coming Friday.  If you’re a Tarte girl, make sure you check it out.

You can find all of the sneak peek items for the “The Beautiful You, Try Something New” event here.

Are you a fan of Tarte Cosmetics? Are you loving their use of the Amazonian Clay in their products?  Interested in picking up the Amazonian Clay Infused Volumizing Mascara?

Bare Escentuals Buxom Lips Lisa And Leslie Couture Lip Duo Review

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on January 6, 2011

As much of a Bare Escentuals and Buxom Lipgloss addict as I am, I never ordered the original Lisa and Leslie Buxom Lipglosses.  I had always heard a ton of raves about them, but at the time I just didn’t need more Buxom glosses in the light pink shades.  But recently I had been scrapping the bottom of my light and medium pink Buxom gloss tubes and figured it was time to re-stock.  It seems like most of the Buxom sets that I had picked up in the past year had darker colors so my lighter shade supply had really dwindled.  When I saw the new Buxom Lips Lisa And Leslie Couture Lip Duo I decided to take the plunge. I am so glad I did.  After playing around with them for a few weeks I finally have a review for you all complete with swatches!

The Buxom Lips Lisa And Leslie Couture Lip Duo features 2 full-sized Buxom lipglosses in Lisa Couture (a soft pink nude shimmer)  and Leslie Couture (a dreamy mauve glisten).  The glosses are named after BFFs Leslie Blodgett (CEO of Bare Minerals) and Lisa Robertson (QVC host).  What makes these couture is the fact that they are packed with shimmer, thus amping them up to couture status.

I absolutely love both the Lisa and Leslie shades.  Both are sheer, with a hint of color.  Applied to lips they give your lips the “your lips but better” look.  Given this, these shades should work with just about any skintone.

Leslie and Lisa In The Sun (Yikes! The zoom on the camera makes my hands look so old!)

Leslie and Lisa In Bathroom Lighting

Leslie and Lisa With The Camera Flash

Now, I have to be honest, if you look at the swatches on my hands, you can see the difference and color between Lisa and Leslie.  Leslie is darker while Lisa is lighter.  But when you apply these to your lips, there isn’t much of a difference in color.  There is a slight difference, but I don’t think anyone would notice if you wore Lisa and then 15 minutes later changed to Leslie, you know what I mean?  Some people might be put off by that if they are looking to have dramatically different shades of glosses in their collection.  Personally, I am definitely a fan of the lighter pink glosses and use them pretty much everyday so having 2 similar shades is a good thing.  Oh, and if you’re a big fan of Buxom, Leslie seems pretty similar to Gabby if you ask me, although Gabby is slightly darker.

Everything about the Lisa and Leslie Buxom glosses is the same as every other Buxom gloss.  They wear decently (about 4 hours or so while eating and drinking) and they have the Buxom tingle.

Overall, I absolutely love the Lisa and Leslie Couture Lip Duo.  The colors are great and make my lips absolutely gorgeous.  They are packed full of sparkle and shine while still coming off as elegant and adult like…no teeny-bopper glitter look here.  I would highly recommend these to anyone.

Bare Escentuals Buxom Lips Lisa And Leslie Couture Lip Duo is a limited edition set that is Customer Top Rated on QVC.  It’s priced at $26 with a retail value of $36.

Did you pick up the Buxom Lips Lisa And Leslie Couture Lip Duo during Bare Minerals visit to QVC in December?  What do you think?

QVC Today’s Special Value – Josie Maran Argan Oil 5-Piece Color Collection

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on January 3, 2011

The QVC Today’s Special Value for today, January 3rd 2010, is the Josie Maran Argan Oil 5-Piece Color Collection. For weeks I had been waiting for this Today’s Special Value.  QVC was a little more tight-lipped about this TSV than they have been about others in the past.  I knew what the Josie Maran TSV was going to be, but the final price was not made available nor was the option for pre-ordering weeks in advance.  Now that the day is finally here, I’m a tad bit disappointed.

First, let’s look at what is included in this kit.  You get a 1.7 fl oz organic argan oil with dropper, a 1.7 oz tinted moisturizer with SPF 30, a 0.19 oz full-coverage concealer, a 0.55 oz dual-purpose color stick in Pink Peony–shade exclusive to QVC until 1/3/2012, and a 0.12 fl oz Natural Volume lip gloss with brush applicator in Pink Peony–shade exclusive to QVC until 1/3/2012. The color choices for concealer/moisturizer are Fair (Creme); Light (Butter); Medium (Linen); or Tan (Desert)–shades exclusive to QVC until 4/15/2011.  (Note – I don’t know why the QVC website states that these colors are exclusive to QVC until April because I see that these shades are available at both Sephora and

Okay, so my biggest gripe about this Today’s Special Value doesn’t even have anything to do with the products themselves.  It has to do with the price and the lack of easy pay!  Seriously, QVC, how can this TSV not have at least 2 Easy Pays?  $70 in one payment seems pretty high to me, especially if you have other QVC beauty TSVs on auto-delivery that will be shipping and billing soon.  And then the price.  This Josie Maran TSV is Today’s Special Value priced at $58.34 (regular QVC price is $70 and retail value is $128).  Add in the $6.22 for shipping and then tax (for my area it’s probably between $5-$6) and your total for this TSV is around $70, with no Easy Pay!

Now, let’s get to the products.  I picked up the Josie Maran Love Nest kit from Sephora during the Friends & Family Sale.  Thru that kit I was able to try the Argan Oil and the Color Stick.  Loved them both.  But a little goes a long way with both of these products and as such I’m not in a dire need to pick up any more of either of these products for a while.

Who doesn’t love a tinted moisturizer.  For those days when you want to look semi-pulled together but don’t want to do a full beauty routine a tinted moisturizer is perfect.  I have played around with Josie’s Tinted Moisturizer in the past at Sephora.  First of all, these colors run dark.  I am usually a “medium” when it comes to most face products from most cosmetics companies.  Josie’s medium (shade name “Linen”) was too dark for me.  The light shade (“Butter”) was better, but it seemed just a tad too light for me.  I am concerned that these shade problem will also be problematic with regards to the concealer since the concealer comes in the same shades.

Also, with regards to the Tinted Moisturizer, I thought it felt a little thick and heavy.  Usually when you use tinted moisturizer you’re looking for something light and refreshing.  For me, this was just a little too thick.  Now, if the Tinted Moisturizer was available in an amazing shade for my skintone, I would totally be able to overlook the thickness of this formula.

One of the things that I do love about this Tinted Moisturizer is the fact that it contains 30 SPF sunscreen.  It amazes me how so many cosmetics either do not contain any SPF or contain minimal amounts.  I can only hope that Joise and her cosmetics team play around with this Tinted Moisturizer and perhaps offer more shades so that I can find one that is more appropriate for my skintone.

Shockingly, I have never tried a Josie Maran lip gloss.  I know, crazyness!  I have heard mixed reviews from a number of people.  Some claim it’s the greatest natural gloss they have tried.  Others say that the staying power in minimal.  I’ve heard a number of complaints about the applicators.  Some claim that the brush feathers out too much and goes outside of their lips.  Others say that the brush tip is too short and they are constantly scraping their lips with the plastic wand.

Overall, my concern is that I would want to return this kit because I don’t think the concealer is too promising for me and I just don’t need any more Argan Oil or Color Stick at the moment.  I’m trying to be good this new year and realize that I don’t need to hoard beauty products just because they are on sale.  I’m confident enough that Josie Maran Cosmetics will be on sale again in the future.  Hopefully right around the time that I need to replenish my Argan Oil.  But a note to QVC, had this TSV been featured on Easy Pay, I may have been persuaded to pick it up!

The Josie Maran Argan Oil 5-Piece Color Collection is available for $58.34 today only, while supplies last. Just a heads up, the Fair shade has already sold out. Light, Medium, and Tan are still available.

Are you a fan of Josie Maran Cosmetics?  Will you be picking up the Today’s Special Value?

Clarisonic Mia On-The-Go QVC Today’s Special Value

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on December 18, 2010

QVC’s Today’s Special Value is a good one.  It’s the Clarisonic Mia On-The-GoSonic Skin Cleansing System.  It’s priced at only $119.82 with 4 Easy Pays.  Shipping and handling is included.  You receive the Clarisonic Mia as well as 2 brush heads and 3 cleansers.  Color choices include berry, purple, green, white, turquoise, pink, cobalt blue, and tomato red.  There must have been a lot of “Jerseylicious” girls watching QVC over-night because the color choices of zebra and jaguar are already on waitlist!

I have the Clarisonic Mia and I absolutely adore it.  I got mine as a TSV years ago, before they had such a wide array of colors to choose from.  I had always wanted a Clarisonic but as a college student couldn’t justify the price.  Then the Mia was introduced at a lower price and then it was available as a Today’s Special Value and it was even cheaper!  I’ve been using it with my Philosophy Purity Made Simple cleanser daily since then.

If you’re still trying to finish up your Christmas shopping list, this is an amazing present and it’s guaranteed to be delivered in time for Christmas.  I would also note that colors start becoming sold out or waitlisted pretty fast whenever the Mia makes an appearance.  So if you are hoping to pick one up in time for Christmas don’t dilly-dally or your may miss out on your choice of color.  The price is good thru today, December 18th, or while supplies last.

Do you have a Clarisonic?  How much do you love it?

Philosophy QVC December 4th Today’s Special Value Review

Posted by anotherbeautyblogger on December 14, 2010

If you recall, a few weeks ago I posted that I had put my order in for the December 4th Philosophy Today’s Special on QVC.  Let me just tell you, I am sooooo glad that I ordered this set.  I am over the moon about it.

Philosophy’s Falling In Love fragrance is one of my absolute favorite fragrances.  It is so sweet and romantic.  I am not really a fan of florals and musks.  So it’s no surprise that I selected the TSV in the Falling In Love fragrance.  I’m a fan of the “Graces” too, but none of them are as divine as FIL, in my humble opinion.  Since I already knew what Falling In Love smells like the fragrance was not the surprise in this kit, it was the packaging.

Let me just tell you, it is stunning.  The outer box features a graphic of glitter running along the bottom.  The box is kept shut with an elegant black ribbon.  When you open the box, you are greeted with generous sized bottles of product secured by elegant black velvet (or some kind of velvet look-a-like) covered foam.  The glitter theme continues onto the products.  Each of the bottles of body butter and shower gel as well as the tube of lip gloss have the same glitter graphic that is found on the outer box.  The stunner of the collection has to be the bottle of fragrance.  It doesn’t have a glitter graphic, it actually has glitter all over the bottle.  Philosophy, if you some how come across this post, please consider offering your bottles of fragrance with this glitter exterior all of the time.  It is gorgeous.

This Picture Doesn't Do This Bottle Justice!

If you recall, I wasn’t sure what the lip gloss was flavored like before I placed the order since I placed the order before the presentation.  The gloss is simply a fancied up version of Philosophy’s Bubbly Lip Shine.  It has a champagne taste.

The solid fragrance stick is a nice touch.  It will make a great addition to my purse during the winter months.  If there is any left come summertime it will have to be moved to my bathroom or desk for fear of the melty mess that I might be left with if I leave my purse in the car.  The scent of the solid fragrance smells exactly like the Falling In Love spray fragrance.

I know a lot of people have said that the quality of Philosophy has gone down hill since Cristina Carlino sold the company.  While I totally agree with that thought in some regards, Philosophy has hit it out of the park with this collection.  All of the products have a true Falling In Love scent.  There isn’t a smell of chemicals or alcohol like I’ve heard some people complain of with past products.

If you picked this up for anyone as a Christmas gift, they are going to love you.  Anyone would be absolutely blown away by this collection.
